These cars were notorious for rusting out due to a lack of zinc coating, but this car has always been in dry climate so that is not an issue. The car was salvaged many years ago due to a light rear end hit, but all sheet metal was replaced with original BMW parts and no evidence of a collision is present. Frame, floor pans, trunk pan and rockers are all arrow straight and rust free. The paint on the car is finished in it gorgeous original color of Garnet Red and is very nice driver quality condition. The car doesn't have a single ding or dent and only a few chips which have been touched up. The car is riding on brand new 15" custom rally type wheels. They look great and have a like new set of Kumho radial tires mounted. The front and rear bumper were removed, and fender flares added to give it an Alpina racing look . All of the glass on the car is original and is in good condition with the exception of a new wind shield. The interior is in great shape all around. The dash and door panels are in like new condition. The original seats are all in very good condition and look very nice with no rips or ware lines, which shows the quality of material used in this car. The wood trim looks great. The carpets are all original, and very nice with no ware or damage. All dials and controls function as they should. The heat and controls work correctly and blows warm when needed. The factory radio was removed by the previous owner, and a custom sound system was installed. Mechanically, this 2002 runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The 2.0L engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by its previous owner who was a BMW fanatic. Clutch and gearbox are smooth with no grinding or issues. The disc brakes stop the car extremely well and I would drive this car anywhere! The engine compartment is show quality and has all of the correct decals and accessories present. The odometer currently shows just over 78,000 Miles, and is believed to be original. All in all, this is one neat little 2002.
