This 1978 Toyota Cressida Station Wagon, or 5 door Wagon, has to be one of the very few left in the world in this condition. It has been garaged its entire life and was rustproofed early in its life. It has a 4 speed automatic, and factory air, but the AC does not blow cold. It has the inline six later used in the Supra. Most of these are rusted hulks; this one could be a show car with minimal effort. I purchased the car knowing it needed a transmission, but drove it for 90 days with a slow upshifting tranny. Finally, the shifting became such a problem I parked it, and let it sit to the point the float chamber in the carb locked up and it does not start up now. With minor carb work and a new tranny it should be fine. But the real value is in the car's overall condition. The interior is like new with the exception of faded carpets and a approximately 6" square place in the rear hatch area carpet where some kind of chemical ate a hole. The glass, chrome, rubber seals, dash, and seats are all in very good shape. The owners, who bought the car in 1978 with a few miles on it, kept it in a garage until I bought it in 2008. I replaced two tires; a fuel pump, cleaned up the rustproofing from the engine compartment, waxed the car, and kept it garaged. I just installed a new battery. The car has all original paint, but will need the front valance removed and repainted as it has a few scratches. After that, NO PAINT OR BODYWORK is needed at all to make it a show car. This is a no-rust ever car. I do have a can of the original paint that goes with the project for the front valance work...also included is a new head gasket set. Some of the Cressidas, in particular the later ones with higher compression, tended to blow head gaskets so I purchased a spare just in case, but this engine is fine... . Thanks for looking! It really needs to be gone quickly; and I will help push it on to your trailer...No, there is no buy it now price and I won't sell it early. There are bids on the car now...yes, the engine will turn over, and run for a few seconds with gas poured down the carb...but the carb float is gunked up and it needs work. It does have a new battery. But what a rare car and easy restoration. I can't imagine why a Toyota dealer would not want this..for marketing purposes, they would not even need to replace the tranny!!
