Vehicle Detail
Here for your consideration is a two owner California Black Plate 1969 911T Targa that has spent its entire life in Sonoma California. In 1969 John Savage returned home to Sonoma from his tour in Viet Nam and decided to buy a Porsche instead of a house. He owned the car until 2000 when Tom Noonan also of Sonoma convinced him that he needed that Porsche. Tom decided to repaint the car and used the Porsche as a daily driver until last month when he decided to pass it on to its next owner. This is a very solid car with no accident history or major rust. It has benefited from living its life in a Mediterranean climate, it has been used and enjoyed its entire life. It has not been a garage queen, but not been abused. Mechanically the car is in need of tires and some front suspension work. Other than that she is very sound. Very even compression, no smoke even on cold starts, shifts smooth, no transmission issues, no major leaks, engine runs up to red line quickly and Webers sound great !! Solid exhaust with SSI heat exchangers. All instrumentation and lights are in working order. The body is very good condition, it is arrow straight with very good original gaps. No Targa sag at doors, all in all a very solid car. The car shines but keep in mind the paint is over 12 years old but was of very good quality when applied with all trim and glass removed. There are a few chips here and there and a door ding perhaps. The only rust on the car is on the rear of the pan behind the front seats, it is minor, a few small pin holes that resulted from condensation in the car, a common Targa issue. Other than that the pan is very solid and original with no signs of repair or undercoating hiding who knows what. There are two dents that resulted from unfortunate jack placement but they are minor. There is one small area of rust on the driver side rocker behind the front fender seam. It is minor and not through the body. I inspected all closing panels, door bottoms, Targa bar drain areas and all nooks and crannies that are subject to rust on these early cars and found nothing but solid body. I took a number of pics that I can send to illustrate what I saw. The interior is pretty original and perhaps the the weakest part of the car. It has a plastic dash topper, and an aftermarket sound system and alarm, both operational. But no hacking up of the interior. Car is equipped with factory fog lights with aftermarket lights installed. Car has 5 nice Fuch alloys. A near perfect original 901 shift knob, funky outside mirrors that the previous owner loved, I will include a NOS driver mirror that I have with the car. The Targa top is original, and is in need of a restoration or at least a new headliner. All in all this is a very solid car that is in need of some minor cleaning up for years of enjoyment. Please email me any questions and thanks for looking!!!
