Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This car was a trade in on another car I had for sale. This car has been in Southern California since the early 1970s. The car still wears its blue California plates which look good against the red paint. This car has been mildly hot-rodded with steel RS flares, fiberglass RS front bumper and the wider Fuchs alloy wheels. This car looks very cool. This paint and flare work was done some time ago and it looks very presentable today, it is however an older paint job and there are a couple cracks and blemishes in the paint but is shines very well. The interior is very presentable, mostly original aside from RS door panels. Targa top is nice and folds up nicely to fit in the trunk. The car has its original floor pans with no rust holes on the pans, front suspension pan has been previously replaced. There is one rust hole in passenger rear inner rocker that will need attention at some point but could be left alone for the time being. Overall there is almost no rust on this car. When I acquired this car it was leaking oil badly but still a running driving car. I have been a Porsche mechanic for the last 17 years so I know what to do, I know too much of what to do so I never end up band aiding a car. I pulled the engine out and in my typical know it all fashion I overdid the work needed and basically rebuilt the entire engine to improved specs. The engine was completely disassembled and anything that needed attention was fixed. The engine case is a 1974 2.7 case which is a non-thermal reactor case (the 75-77 cases had hard lives with smog equipment that overheated the engine and made head studs pull). The crank is standard/standard, the bearings were near new and measured perfect standard size. The engine had Alusil cylinders which wear out and are not the best – a set of matching Nikasil cylinders and S pistons (S pistons are 8.5:1 rather than 8.0:1 compression) were acquired and installed along with new Gotze piston rings. The cylinder heads are from a 76 911S which has the bigger intake ports, the previous owner had Einmalig of Orange Co rebuild the heads. The cams are a Web Cam modified S grind. Cylinder cooling tin was updated to the improved late style. Other new parts include: New timing chains, ramps, rebuilt rocker arms, full gasket set, oil hoses, oil breather hoses, turbo lower valve covers, solid tensioners were installed, cap/rotor/points/spark plugs, coil, oil pressure warning switch, improved cam line fittings, fan belt, K&N air filter, Mahle oil filter, Castrol 20w50 oil, Bursch muffler, oil filler neck boot, heater hoses, pop-off valve in intake box. Aside from all the new parts you will notice by the pictures that I properly cleaned all parts, painted the tin with engine paint, exhaust was done with a high heat ceramic exhaust coating. All injection was tested. I replaced all the fuel lines including the tank to car and ones under the rear of the car. With all these premium parts and current set up I would estimate the horsepower in the 185hp range. The engine is now one of the best features of this car. This is a real 911E targa, it could be brought back to its original condition. It can also be used and driven as it sits. Early 911E and S cars are hard to find and very expensive these days. This one is going cheap considering all the work recently done to the engine. All lights work, gauges work, transmission shifts very well, brakes work, there may be some items that need attention to make it a comfortable daily driver. If the car was to be brought back to original then figure the engine is worth at least $5000 and the wheels are worth $1500 so figure those numbers when considering the total price. Note that is does have 911S badges on the car, I did not put these on and no it is not a S. Included with the car is records back to the early 1990s, both blue CA plates, and a clean CA title. Car is not currently up to date on registration, it is a couple months overdue so a temporary pass or registration would be needed to legally drive it in California. Worldwide shipping is no problem.
