Vehicle Detail
The 1968 Porsche 911L, has the lowest production number of any 911 model. with only 449 US.models made. The 911L was the top of the line porsche in the US in 1968, and made for one year only. The L models where basicly the same as the S model with a standard 911 engine. The S model was not imported to the US.in 68 due to tougher emission standards. 1968 was the last year of the original design 911, with the short wheel base. [SWB] What I have is a very original, un-molested number matching dream machine. This car was originally sold in southern California, and spent most of its life LA. before coming east in 2000 to Charleston SC. I have the original porsche manuals and maintenance record book, wich document's service there to 1975. In 1975 the 2nd. owner, a porsche collector and PCA member had the car professionally painted from it's original polo red, to light ivory and undercoated. The paint still looks good today and the body is very clean and 99% rust free. This car has been loved and cared for to a high degree and it shows. This is more like a museum find than a barn find. I'm the third owner, when I perches this car It had been in storage for 10 years and was not running I had the car shipped to my mechanic where all the fluids where changed and a tune up and valve adjustment. It was discovered that one of the webber carbs had bad threads which did not let the jet seat properly . I replaced that carb with another webber carb from the same era. I saved the original and it could be refurbished if you wished. The engine runs good but does leak a little oil from seals not bad. I have driven the car on several weekend trips of 200 miles + the car will cruise right along at 75-80 with no problem. the engine has good compression and oil pressure. The steering is very tight & responsive. The sportomatic is a joy to drive and functions properly. The brakes are only 2 years old and work great. The interior is in very good condition. There is one crack in center of dash. The original tool bag + tools is still under the hood. Dealer installed AC in 1968 not currently working but have parts. The smog pump is no longer with car. The car is available for inspection by appointment.I can send or post more pictures if desired. This is a sweet car that any porsche enthusiast would be proud to own.
