Vehicle Detail
1980 Pontiac Turbo T/A project car. 1 of 5700 built! Still has #s matching 301 turbocharged engine. Engine will fire up with a gas can attached to the carb, and sounds good. Trans goes in and out of gear. It is NOT currently driveable. Someone started to restore it, or do something, then apparently gave up, fortunately before really tearing it apart to far. The paint appears original, and the body is in really excellent shape and very solid. The gray painted areas on the hood and top seemed to have oxidized all the way down the the white paint underneath. The correct silver T-tops are still there. Not sure why it had a salvage title, as it appears to never really had any significant damage, and most everything major appears original. The underside, floor pans, and body are nice and rust free. Still has the original exhaust, 4 wheel disc brakes, all the turbo stuff on the engine, etc. The interior was taken apart by a prior owner, but I have all the seats and door panels. I have reproduction seat material in the correct "oyster" pattern for the centers of the seats. Included are all 4 15x8 turbo wheels. One just had an old BFG radial TA that blew apart just sitting there. I also have both California personalized plates that say "80 PACE", and are shown as being registered to this car on the title. I also have a bunch of 1980 Indy memorabilia that will go along with the car. Someone with more time and fewer projects than myself should be able to make a nice driver out of this without a ton of work. Or you could go the restored show car route, since these are now getting rarer, and starting to get more respect from the collector community. Please note before bidding: This is being sold as a non-running project car. The title is in a prior owner's name. Although it is signed by him, I have never attempted to register it due to California smog laws on post '75 cars. The buyer is responsible for any back fees that may have accrued and making the car smog legal for your state. The buyer is also responsible for arranging and paying for shipping of this car. So please do your due diligence before bidding. I will require a $500 non-refundable deposit 3 days after the auction ends, with the balance due and safely cleared by my bank before car leaves my property.
