CONDITION REPORT
I recently purchased this car from its original owner, who commissioned the build in late 2007. A drag racer and car nut, he wanted something with all the looks of a pure Pro Street car, with the reliability and driveability of a modern rod. Finally, he wanted it to carry off trophies wherever it went with build quality, fit, and finish.
With a tall order like that, the build was given to the incredibly talented Paul Berman and Scott Mueller at 203 CUSTOM CAR WORKS in Ypsilanti, MI. 203 has been responsible for some of the highest grade restorations of Vintage Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Porsche and more, in addition to creating some of the coolest HOT RODS and Custom cars around! This amazing 1934 Chevy started life as a OUTLAW PERFORMANCE body, and it was extensively worked, adjusted, and reinforced by 203 to make sure that it was ready for the up close inspection by judges from around the country at NSRA, GOOD-GUYS, and Autorama shows.
OUTLAW is, without a doubt, the premiere builder of Pro Street bodies and chassis in the 34 Chevy, FORD, and Willy's market, and with a long history of reliability and resale value, they were the first and only choice for the start of this build.
Here are just some of the standard items on the OUTLAW body:
Hand-laminated, one-piece constructed body.
Complete with wood reinforcement and a steel unitized structure imbedded into floor pan of body.
Wood consists of kiln-dried Poplar, D-select. Poplar is used because the expansion rate is the most compatible to fiberglass than any other wood. Our wood never contacts the outside skin of the car, which causes transfer marks.
Includes under dash steel being welded into floor steel making for a unitized structure in body.
All square and rectangular tubing is 095 wall.

As you can see in some of the build photos I supplied below, the body was completely and totally gone over by 203 crew, with not one square inch left untweaked to make the body just perfect.
Custom LED lights out back with the Chevrolet emblem really look great on the car!
Once it was ready to go, multiple hand sprayed layers of Brandywine Metallic were carefully applied, followed by a healthy coat of clear that was then color sanded to perfection before the buffing wheel was set loose on the car!
The end result is truly one of the fines street rod finishes you will ever see! Rich, deep, luxurious, wet, slick, and mirror-like are all words those who have seen the car in person have used to describe it!
With just under 500 miles, most of which were spent going in and out of show events, the car shows less than a handful of truly minor and insignificant marks from normal life. These are hairline scuffs, miniscule stone chips, and the like that most people will never even see. I only point them because if you get an inch away, you might see them. Anyone else on ebay that would list this car would say the paint is 100% flawless if that helps.
The car has not been detailed by me, and it still is ready for the car show floor! Just imagine how amazing it will look when you take the time to clean it from stem to stern when you get it home!
Billet polished mirrors on each side look fantastic, and are actually functional too!
The front end was treated to a drop mounting kit to get those headlights looking perfect.
Grill is in as new condition as well.
The hood and partial side sections are steel units that were custom fabricated by 203 from a Rootlieb kit. They look fantastic on the car, and are in exceptional condition.
Glass on the car is in like condition as well, with no marks, chips or damage to be found.
Power windows roll up and down with ease from the inside switchgear, or via the 6-button remote.
Doors pop with authority on both sides via remote, 2 hidden switches, or the manually actuated safety release.
Trunk lid opens to reveal a fully carpeted and finished trunk with modest storage, as it houses the battery and 19 Gallon PRO LINE racing aluminum fuel cell with outside vent. It has two struts to hold it up, and opens via an interior release.
Rolling stock is provided by show chromed American Racing 5-spoke Nostalgia series rims size 14" up front, and 15" in the back.
Front tires are sized P185-70R14, while the only and only Mickey Thompson was selected to supply the Sportsman rear meats, which come in at a whopping 31x18.00R15LT in size! With just under 500 miles on them, the tires still show like new.
The overall appearance and quality of the exterior of this car is truly a 9.9 out of 10, and it is a ZERO disappointment car when it shows up at your door!
To make it the best it could be, OUTLAW was also tapped for one of the finest PRO STREET chassis set-ups they make, the PRO III.
This unit is manufactured to not only fit perfectly with the OUTLAW body, but to rival anything else on the market with its incredible build quality, components, and geometry.

So much has been polished, powdercoated, or painted underneath it almost is like having another whole showcar when you put it on a lift!
This car has been dialed in with a professional alignment for the street, allowing for road crown, to make it handle like a sports car, but still hook up like a drag car when you want it to!
Braking system is all hard lined or braided stainless and run throught the frame with Aeroquip fittings.
When it came time to select a powertrain, the obvious choice for reliabilty, ease of maintenance, and longevity was a brand new GMPP 350HO motor which was ordered from Burt Greenwald Chevy in Akron, OH, along with a GM Performance flywheel. This 9.1: compression motor with a 4-bolt main and Vortec heads has 330hp and 380ft lbs of torque which work together to motivate this Chevy down the road like a Corvette on steroids!
The motor has a few special tricks, and whole lot of dress up items from the 203 crew, and it is mated to a brand new Turbo 400 transmission from the one and only Lang Racing Transmissions in Milan, MI. With a mild shift kit, 3,500 stall converter, and a Hurst PRO STICK shifter, the car goes into gear with authority, and is simply a blast to drive down the road. Ratchet through the gears for hi-speed hijinks, or just snick it into drive and cruise... either way, this car does it all better than almost anything else I have been in!
Plus, with just under 500 miles on the whole powertrain, it is broken in, all the minor tweaks have been done, and it is checked and retorqued for the next lucky owner to cruise into the sunset with!
NHRA style PULL ON/PUSH OFF start is under the dash, and is a cool way of firing up your ride.
Idle is clean and smooth, and the car does not seem to run rich or lean, but just right!
Once in gear, a tap on the gas will launch you down the road with only the sound of your laughter and the incredible dual exhaust system lingering behind you!
The car drives, shifts, handles, rides, stops, and goes like the professionally built, $90,000 invested, and top component car that it is. NO odd handling traits, NO pulling or wander, NO brake fade, NO fluid leaks, NO weeping, NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER!!!
Cooling is handled via a Walker Z-LNE radiator custom made for this application, along with an extra large cooling fan that is thermostatically controlled. Even on a 90 degree Florida day with the air on full blast, and stuck in traffic heading towards our beach, the car NEVER got over 189 degrees! It is a cool runner, and a willing long distance cruiser!
This car is truly one of the finest made and best driving Street Rods I have been in, and I am incredibly impressed by the craftsmanship and talent the 203 Custom Car Works crew had in building it.
With the outside and chassis completed, all that was left was the interior, and not one penny was skimped when it came time to do it!
Wise Guys seating custom fabricated the seat with its low slung look and full funcitionality. It has a recline lever in the lower front, along with two (2) 12 volt outlets! One it was fabbed, it was then turned over to the legendary Mike Carr at Carr Interiors to have the stunning Dove Gray Leatherette installed over layer upon layer of DynaMat and insulation.
Simply incredible worksmanship throughout, from the door panels, custom deep weave carpet with matching mats, rear panel with custom storage pockets, all the way to the headliner. There are ZERO flaws that I can see in the inside of the car, meaning NO seam pulls, NO rips, NO tears, NO holes, NO burn marks, NO staining, NO ANYTHING! The car has under 500 miles and has been a show car since completed. The upholstery and carpeting still show like new!
Dash has a one of a kind Chevrolet emblem in the center, filled with full set of high dollar CLASSIC INSTRUMENTS gauges. Speedo/Odo, Fuel, Temp, Oil, and Water are included. They all appear to be functioning and reading correctly, but I have NOT had them professionally tested for accuracy by anyone.
The rest of the dash is smooth and sano, with the headlight control under the dash for cleanliness. The dash plaque with the build commission on it can be removed, as it is stick on only.
A Vintage Air mini space saver Generation II climate unit was installed with ulta cool billet dash vents that move and adjust for maximum exposure.
The system has full heat, air conditioning, and defrost functionality, and it operates FLAWLESSLY!
The show polished double groove pulley compressor looks great under the hood, and provides more than enough cooling for the cab on this car!
The custom made overhead console houses a door operated interior light, as well as the head unit for the stereo system in the car. The Virtual Reality Soundlabs unit is a AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA unit with RDS, a USB port, Aux. in, and a detachable face.
The system is connected to two large rear speakers, and sound great, but is not going to win you a best stereo contest. Just a good, powerful, clean sounding tone when playing everything from Jeff Beck to Bach.

Wiring for the whole car is from the best, as Ron Francis supplued the BARE BONEZ kit for the car, and the entire wiring layout and finish work is some of the best I have seen.
A master cut off switch on the passenger rear of the cabin meets safety regulations, and helps keep the car fully charged when you leave it in the garage for a few weeks.
Billet door handles and gas, brake, hi-beam pedals are all Lokar, and all look like new!
A real Ididit chrome steering column is in place, and looks fantastic topped with a Grant custom steering wheel.
The interior of this car is quiet, clean, and done in a modern style that has a nod to nostagia. It is a super comfortable place to command the car from, and I have found that drivers from 5'2 to 6'4 can find a comfort level unmatched by most other Street Rods.
The car was NSRA Safety inspected the last time it went to a sanctioned event in 2009, with just 387 miles, and it is still in fully operational form with no issues at all.
