1940 Buick Century 61C Phaeton (convertible sedan) 4 door Convertible. Very Rare only 194 Manufactured in 1940, only 11 known to exist (BCA). Very solid and straight body and undercarriage. Very nice Burgandy metallic paint, driver quality, however very shiny and presentable, (No dents,however, some scratches on right front fender that have been touched up) Brand new expensive Tan Canvas Convertable top, with new or repaired wooden bows. Bumpers have been replated and are very good. Most of chrome in very good to excellent condition (some minor pitting on exterior door handles). Very nice Maroon leather seats, door panels and carpet. Beautiful ivory steering wheel and dash. All glass in excellent condition. Lights, turn signals, wipers, radio and most gauges work (except fuel gauge and clock). Car is very original and complete. 320 cubic inch Straight Eight runs good, does not burn oil and starts right up. Mileage listed, is since an engine rebuild, however, I cannot document . Three speed manual on colum shifts properly. New 6 volt battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, points and condensor. Carb just rebuilt to withstand gasahol. WWW bias-ply tires (nearly new) Upholstered trunk with spare tire and original jack. Great crusing car easily capable of interstate speeds. Steering is tight and responsive. I was told by former owner that, this car spent most of its time in Texas, and was originally owned by a director of the Dupont Corporation (although I have no documentation to prove) Owners Manual, Sales Brochure and Service Manual included.
