Vehicle Detail
Yes, it's true, I'm selling my lovely 930 after a very short stay. And here's why-TIP-never restore TWO other cars at the same time! I looked for a long time to find a completely ORIGINAL factory slantnose-as you know, there are only 600 of these, but somewhere along the road, a large number of them got molested in various unsavory ways, and I always wanted a bone-stock car-I'm a bit of stickler for originality. About this car. Well, I don't often think this, but this slant is almost perfect-everything works beautifully, the car drives exactly as it should-there are NO problems at all, that i can see-i just fixed the heat, which didn't work, and did a mini service (plugs, fluids, etc) The paint is great-no dings or scratches, interior also great-no rips or scuffs It has a four speed box (many of these were converted to 5 speed, but frankly, i'm not really sure what you'd need a fifth gear for in this car!) It also has sport seats, with electric height adjustment, and limited slip differential. The only thing that doesn't work is the (original) radio, but that's because it's not actually plugged in-the connectors in the back are for a more modern head unit. The other thing is that the headlights tend to get stuck on the highbeam setting-i have a feeling a new highbeam stalk might be in order...other than that, nothing. The car is glorious, and to be honest, I've really gotten to like her, but she has to go. When I took the 930 in for the service a few months ago, i thought I'd have the car dropped to the European ride height (it looks nicer a lower, as it should be.) I got a call from the (well known) Porsche mechanic and he told me a) he'd never seen a more original 930, and b) he wasn't going to change the ride height, because he didn't want to touch a thing. So there you have it. It's a lovely car. Is it more expensive than some? perhaps. But you'll be hard pressed to find a better preserved, low mileage slant. And remember, they only made 600. My mechanic thinks i'm crazy to sell this-he told me to stuff it in a garage, and in 10 years time 'it'll be worth 250k' Maybe he's right, maybe not, but it's certainly worth thinking about. good luck, and feel free to ask questions..
