Vehicle Detail
This 1966 Ford Mustang will make a great restoration project for someone who has the space and time. I bought it about two years ago. My father and I wanted to start a car project together, and when we found the listing for this vehicle, we thought it would be a great project for us. However since then I have moved further away, and my father was rear ended in an accident (some kid texting on his phone). My father is no longer able to help me with this project, and I don't have the free time or "know how" to finish it properly alone. So, I want to give this car a chance to be restored by someone else wanting a great classic to show off and enjoy. The car has a clear Ohio title and only has 35,000 miles reistered on it. The man I bought the car from had it stored nicely in a large and modern garage. I have kept it in a garage as well since I've had it, so it hasn't been subjected to the weather. All the glass is present and free of cracks and chips. It has some surface rust under the car and some on the inside where the interior was removed. Honestly thou its nothing that couldn't be fixed with a wired brush on a drill and some primer. The important thing is that it doens't have any mud in it anywhere that I can see. The structure on this car is firm. New floor boards "foot weld panels" have been welded in (very important since this was a unibody design). I started some of the body work. The front fenders and hood have all been worked on. Fender are ready for paint. The car comes with additional front valences, gauages, chrome trim and other interior accessories, and lots of other stuff I'm sure I am forgetting. It has the black interior seats that everyone has so much trouble finding. It also has red seats to go with it if wanted with red door skins and dash. I have bought brand new carpet for the interior, new interior trim, new sunvisors, and bought a new roof liner, welting, and rib structure too. So the interior is over 90% I bought brand new upper and lower control arms, new 1" lowering springs, complete set of bushings, and other suspension pieces (all black). The original parts are still on the car. Interesting Vin Information Example VIN #6FO8A100005 6=Last digit of Model Year (1966) F=Assembly Plant (F-Dearborn, R-San Jose, T-Metuchen) 08=Body Code (07-coupe, 08-convertible, 09-fastback) A=Engine Code 100005=Consecutive unit number This means this car was originally a 200cc V6. The original engine is no longer with the car. My father and I have rebuilt a 302 V8 model for this project thou. It is a complete GT40P 302. Its one of the last years the 302 was produced and the GT 40P heads were considered a significant upgrade from previous models. The heads have been ported and flowed and the valves have been reseated. New F-roller Cam, JD Shorty headers, Hurricane Intake Manifold, 780 Holley Carberator, MSD HIE ditributor and new high output wires. New rods, mains, and rings. New waterpump. We have gone through the engine completely. Engine is ready to go. I'm sure there are more new parts I'm forgetting to list. I'm sure whoever gets this car will look forward to intalling it. I don't have pictures of the engine right now because it is at my father's garage, but i can probably get them on request. New dual center clutch and pressure plate. The previous owner installed an 8" 5 spoke mustang rear end under it, and I have gathered up the reccomended parts to do the front end 5 spoke conversion as well (the brackets and pedals). It has duel 3" exhaust pipes that go with it. I'm listing this car locally as well and reserve the right to cancel the auction within 24 hours of its ending time. I will not cancel listing in the last 24 hours. I have tried to make this listing accurate. I have invested a lot of money into this car, and I hope it finds an enthusiastic buyer. On Feb-29-12 at 08:54:08 PST, seller added the following information: ***I've recieved a few question regarding this vehicle since posting it, and it seems I need to add a few more details.*** The pictures I posted of the car are from when I first bought it, and the car still looks the same except for some of the minor work I have already completed. I do have the bumpers for this car along with three grill options and multiple extra front pieces. I will probably have all of the pieces loaded inside of the car to make it easy for buyer to pick up and not need a lot of additional space. However, with all of the additional pieces I have bought for the car, you may need some additional space aside. I have two transmission options and will allow you to pick one. Option One: I have an automatic transmission with a torque converter that can be used. Option Two: My father and I had planned on adapting a T5 manual transmission from a truck. Option two requires you to change the top shift mount. I have a new dual centerforce clutch for this application. Many of the new body parts and trim come from Laurel Mountain Mustang. Many of the new engine parts come from the Summit Racing store located in Tallmadge, Ohio (i'm lucky enough to live near one).
