Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1988 BMW 535is, 5 speed Manual transmission. Paint is Diamant-schwarz metallic (dark grey), black leather Recaro seats up front. This e28 runs great, pulls strong, and stops quick! The M30 motor is considered one of BMW’s best and it’s bulletproof. However, although this car has a good heart, the body is not in the greatest shape. The condition of the body is FAIR. The car has a salvaged title as it has been involved in an accident and subsequently repaired with the frame straightened out. Bondo is present on the passenger side rear quarter in the wheel well. Due to the accident, fit and finish has been compromised as the hood and trunk close but the gaps are not flush. The trunk is the biggest pain for me as I have to prop it open with a 5 iron, which I can include. Also, trunk seals need to be replaced as it causes leaks when there’s heavy rain. The rear power antennae is broke off but, the motor works. Hood and roof are sun damaged and I sprayed the roof matte black. The car has no stereo or front speakers. Most everything on the car is functional. All power switches work including all four windows, moonroof, seats, adjustable headrests, instrument cluster, on-board computer, and HVAC. The non functional options are: no courtesy lights when doors are opened (although the dome lights work manually), cruise control, trunk does not stay open (hinges are damaged), Reverse lights don't work (wiring connection issue, as they used to work)... I purchased the car out in Santa Barbara, CA and had it shipped to Minneapolis and now it's here in Michigan where I currently live. A lot of time and money has been put into this vehicle to get it to how I envisioned it. The car has almost $8000 invested into it! Modifications include: lowered coil over suspension from Ireland Engineering, new drive shaft, new throttle cable, oil pan and trans gaskets, new straight flow cat back exhaust, new power steering pump, all new brake pads and rotors, UUC Evo 3 Short shifter, and misc. detail parts. I've installed some personal touches such as a wood Nardi steering wheel with horn button, vintage wood shift knob, high quality window film, Yakima Roof rack... Currently, the car is used as a daily driver. It starts great. This can also be a parts car as well. I have the original basket weave 15” BBS wheels which have Blizzak snow tires mounted on them. The front struts need to be replaced. I have purchase a brand new set of Bilstein sport strut inserts but, have not installed them. The interior is condition is good. Driver seat has wear on the bolsters and the bottom is worn but, all other seats are fine. The headliner has shown some wear and minimal staining. PLEASE NOTE: Seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time. Winning bidder will have to setup shipping if out of the local area. Please send me a message for any other questions. Thanks!
