Vehicle Detail

A rare find indeed: a (2) owner California classic, that has only been in one accident! The car has been stored in a warehouse for more than 25 years and underwent a complete pan-off restoration of the body and paint. Absolutely NO rust. Just noticed the pictures have have orange seat padding dust all over the floor. There are pictures of the battery area, which is frequently asked for. The entire body was baking soda blasted to bare metal (can't use sand anymore except for wheels) and custom painted with four coats of high-quality Dupont Chroma. The undercarriage was treated with undercoating. All wheels, including the fullsize spare have been sand blasted and powder coated. The tires are brand new, wide-band Coker white walls that have never been driven on. The entire wiring harness has been replaced with the best OEM product on the market that is color-matched to original 1955 standard. All window rubber, window chrome, door rubber, door chrome, stainless steel molding, and headlamps are new OEM products from either West Coast Metric, BFY, or Wolfsburg West. All of the glass is original and undamaged. The story on the vehicle is that the original owner was a local college's auto shop teacher. The engine had its oil changed on a weekly basis by students. He drove the car to work each day. When he retired in the late 70's, he had too many vehicles and stored a few of them in a warehouse his friend owned. 25+ years later he decided to sell off all of his cars. He uncovered the car, changed the points and battery and the engine fired right up after not being started all those years! The engine is in great running condition, as it is original transmission. A mechanic has completely gone through the engine, cleaned it up, including re-painting much of it, replacing the exhaust system (the original owner changed out the original single exhaust in the 60's), replaced firewall materials, and put on a new carb. The only thing missing in the engine is the front tin, which I didn't get with the car. The car is very complete. The only items missing are the bumpers, running boards, and previously mentioned engine tin. The original owner did remove the bullet turn signals, but I bought new ones that are painted to match the car, just need installation. The steering wheel was cracked and weathered, so I had it restored and color matched to the car. The car's interior was shot, so it will need to be replaced. If you put a nice interior in, this call will instantly be a show car. The seats were recovered at some point, but the material is deteriorating badly. The seat frames are in good condition and functionality excellent. The pictures don't do this car justice; it is a real beauty. You will be very excited to see a 1955 in this good of condition.
