For your consideration is a very clean 1983 GMC Jimmy Diesel with a manual transmission. This truck runs excellent and has a new---not rebuilt--- "599" shortblock with less than 5k miles. The engine has been upgraded with a Banks turbo kit. The turbo is rebuilt with less than 5000 miles. An untouched DB4911 injection pump has been installed as well. The 4911 was the last year of mechanical injection pumps in GM diesels and is the highest output mechanical pump you can buy--its very desireable and works great on this truck. It has not been turned up and performs as it would from the factory. Moving to the transmission, we have as SM465 granny low (6.55:1) which has been torn down, inspected, and resealed. It shifts excellent and is very very tough. In front of the SM465 is an Advance Adapters Ranger III Overdrive 2 speed transmission. This unit is a 2 speed (direct drive and overdrive 0.73) manual trans that bolts on front of the SM465. It is near bullet proof and is nice because it provides an extra gear for low RPM highway operation. This truck will cruise at 70 mph on the highway and only turn about 1900 rpm. Behind the SM465 is an NP205 all iron, all gear transfer case that has also been torn down and resealed. 3/4 ton axles have also been installed with 4.10 gears and a factory locking 14 bolt full floating rear end. This truck will cruise on the hwy at 70+ but also provide a 54:1 crawl ratio when on the trail! In addition to all this you also have the ability to split all gears with the Ranger. This truck has a total of 16 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds. The list of upgrades on this truck go on and on so ill summarize best i can below. Goods: -6.2 diesel/banks turbo/AA Ranger OD/SM465/NP205--- amazing drivetrain and thousands invested. -37" Military take-offs with 95% tread...best ive ever seen as most are adverstised at 75% "or better" and are actually around 50%. -Military 8 bolt beadlock wheels. -6" lift with stainless brake lines and rear shacle flip. Sway bar disconnects by ORD are brand new. -Front seat package out of 2006 Silverado include full functioning sliding and reclining. The middle jump seat/console turn this truck into a six seater. -Magnaflow muffler and 3" exhaust. -Working factory guages-- Oil PSI, Water temp, Voltage, and Fuel level. -Current registration until December 2012 and clear title! This truck only costs $65 per year to put tags on and NEVER any smog! -2 Fresh batteries. The truth is i would trust the mechanics of this truck to get me literally ANYWHERE. HOWEVER, The problem with driving accross the country would be: 1. No front carpet would make for a noisy drive. 2. Tall, soft suspension demands your utmost attention at freeway speeds--this tires the driver and charging on for 8+ hours of driving day after day would be TOUGH--certanily possible--but tough. To summarize, the truck would make the trip but if it were me making a 1000+ mile drive id give myself days--if not weeks-- to make it happen just to make it as easy on myself as possible.
