Up for Auction is our 1992 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon with 155,288 original miles. It does not start and we are selling it as is. We purchased it two years ago from close friends who were the original owners of the car and who took very good care of it but were starting to have intermittant trouble starting it. We bought the car as a third car and amazingly had no trouble with it until last summer when we began having trouble starting it.We brought it to a mechanic who after putting it to the back of the list and not starting work on it for 3 months put a coil in it and called it fixed when in fact it was not. Then he sat on the car for another 3 months until deciding he did not have the time to fix the car, thought the problem was a control module and claimed that he could not get one anyway. Discouraged and with no funds to continue our pursuit we have finally decided to sell the car not running and as is. What I do know about the car is this. It was a great running car. It looks great. It needs front end work soon as it is sloppy. Probably tie rod ends etc. The exhaust was replaced just before we purchased it. The radio does not work. All other controls seem to work except the switch that opens and closes the sun roof. You have to crank it open and closed with a wrench but it does close nice and tight. The doors open and close nicely. The lights work but the dome lights dont work automatically as the plunger switches in the door jams dont seem to be doing their job. The engine compartment is clean and there are no leaks on the car. Cleaned and polished this car would look amazing inside and out. I have a set of (4) almost new snow tires that can be had.
