I am selling my 1963 Herbie the Love Bug VW Ragtop Bug. This is the best 'Herbie" you will ever see. It was a "body off" restoration with the best parts used to restore. There isnt a used bolt on the car. This car has some cool history as well. We were asked by Disney to display the car on the red carpet World Premier of the "Herbie-Fully Loaded" movie in Hollywood. I will sell the car with the "thank you" letter from Disney as well as a picture of the car at the world premier. On top of all of that, Lindsey Lohan and Matt Dillion (the two stars of the movie) signed the glovebox door of the car. Now on to what was done on the restoration...... We started with an accident free, rust free 1963 Ragtop Beetle. The car was taken completely apart. While the body prep and paint was getting done, we sandblasted and painted the rust free pan. The pan was then undercoated. We added a fully rebuilt adjust a drop front end. All the bushings were replaced and the king and link spindle assemblies were rebushed and rebuilt. New shocks were installed. A 1967 12 volt transmission was rebuilt and upgraded with a 3:88 ring and pinion. The shifting is fast and smooth , with a high end Berg locking shifter. All the electrical was gone through and works great. A new factory wire harness was installed. New halogen headlights were installed as well as new bulbs everywhere else. Everything works....including the interior light. On to the motor...a rebuilt 1915cc motor was installed. We installed a new alternator, Bosch blue coil, electric fuel pump, and a 009 bosch distributer with a comp u fire electronic ignition. The motor is powered by a rebuilt a set of 40mm dual Dellorto Carburators with new air cleaners and hexbar linkage. A new pressure plate, clutch and throw out bearing was installed. It breathes through a ceramic coated header with a ceramic coated fat boy muffler. Very fun to drive.....to say the least!!! The brake system was replaced. A new master cylinder, all the wheel cylinders, hard brake lines, brake hoses were replaced and installed. We replaced the stock brake shoes with two sets of semi metallic brake shoes. This is a major upgrade. This car stops on a dime. The car was disassembled and sprayed with L87 Pearl White paint inside and out. The car looks fantastic. German running boards and fender beading were installed. All new seals were replaced through out the car. A new headliner, and "Herbie correct" Grey and off white Door panels and upholstory was installed. The seat frames were stripped and sanded and painted. The springs were covered in burlap. The wolfsburgwest seat pads were installed followed by a 1/4 thin layer of foam. Then the seat upholstery was installed. They feel BETTER than new. The carpet used was a medium grey German Squareweave, the same carpeting you will find in high end Mercedes automobiles. I installed very rare "wolfsburg" polished aluminum door sill covers. New factory grey floor mats were installed. This car still smells like new !!! A NOS LeCarra leather wrapped steering wheel was installed. So was a very rare original EMPI day/night rear view mirror. A killer top of the line Clarion AM/FM/CD player was installed. It can blast the tunes.....but has great sound quality... You cant get a nicer restoration for the money. A certain crowd pleaser....thats a kick in the pants to drive... This is a premier car. No short cuts done with this car. Its a beautifully done restoration with no expenses spared.
