Vehicle Detail

Up for no reserve bid is a 1972 Triumph Stag. The Stag is about the size of a Spitfire with some similar styling cues, but has a SOHC V8 engine built by Triumph. This particular Stag is in really nice driver condition. It has the v8, 5 speed, AC, soft top and hard top. The interior is in excellent shape. The body is very nice, and the paint looks good from a few feet away, but could probably stand to be repainted to make it a real show car.The engine runs great, transmission shifts through the gears smoothly and steering is tight and the brakes work well. Tires have lots of good tread on them. The known Stag engine issues have been addressed with an upgrade to an electric water pump and a holley 4 bbl carburetor. It also has a CD stereo in place of the original. The car comes complete with a truckload of spare parts, including the original carbs, and an original water pump, should someone want to gear it less towards a driver and more towards a show car. We've looked over the car from top to bottom and crawled underneath looking for rust bubbles or rust spots and have not found any.The only known flaw is that it is a british sports car: i.e. it leaves a puddle of oil on the garage floor. We think this may come from one of the valve covers, but we aren't sure. This is a very nice example of a very unusual car, and it is in great shape to be driven and enjoyed today, or a really great start on turning it into a show car. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We can arrange for pictures of any areas of particular interest. I am selling this for a friend, so give me a day or so to get an answer to your question or get the pictures. As always, this is a 40 year old car, sold as is, where is, with no warranty express or implied.Successul bidder will be expected to provide a non-refundable $100 deposit via paypal within 5 days of auction close with the remainder to be paid upon pickup. Pickup needs to be within 14 days of auction unless other arrangements are made. The vehicle is located about 150 miles north of Los Angeles. Thank you and happy bidding As a viewer pointed out to me, it is not a 5 speed, but a 4 speed with an electric overdrive operated via a button on the shifter. The overdrive has been tested and it works.
