Vehicle Detail

I picked up this MGB a few weeks ago with several others cars. These vehicles had been sitting in a dry garage for several years. This particular one has been there since 97. I can't say with absolute certainty the mileage is correct but the previous owner has had it since 1991 and claims the mileage is correct. With it sitting for so long, it very well could be. The car is rust free, but not scratch free. It looks like in its tenure in the garage, items have fallen against it and he attempted to fix them with hand sanding and rattle can spray paint. Its mainly two spots on the trunk lid and a couple of spots on the hood. I hooked the front rubber bumper on the door facing pulling the car out and pulled it loose. It looks like an easy fix. The left rear brake drum was stuck to the brake shoes when I got it. I backed off the brakes, heated the drum and bumped it with a dead blow hammer and it freed up. It had gas in it that would not even burn when lit with a match. I pumped it all out with the fuel pump which looks like was installed new in 97. Having said all that: I added gas, put on a new electronic distributor, gapped and cleaned the plugs, primed the carb, turned on the ignition, the fuel pump came up to pressure and she ran. It was apparent the water pump was not going to make it. I shut it down and ordered a new one. I installed it, flushed the system until the water was clear (it only has water in it at this time) and after a few attempts, she fired up and ran pretty good, almost smooth. However, if you give it gas for any amount of time, it runs out so I'm thinking the float and needle are probably stuck and a carb rebuild is in order. But it does run with no smoke, so it appears to be a good engine. It has the Weber upgrade and all the smog stuff is gone. The exhaust is going to need replacing or at least the hangers reattached. There are no leaks in the cooling system. I ran it off a spare battery I had with jumper cables (the orange ones under the car) so I don't have a battery for it. You'll notice the battery rack is not rusted away. The PO had removed the batteries and drained the coolant from all the cars. The clutch master is dry and I haven't been able to drive it. The transmission does shift into all gears without issue. I have a rebuild kit for the master and slave. As I said earlier, the body is rust free and other than the mentioned scratches is in really good shape. All the glass is good, the windows roll up and down as they should and other than the push buttons being a little stiff, the doors open and close as they should. The gasket between the body and windshield will need some attention. The trunk is clean and contains a spare wire wheel, the knock off wrench and jack. The interior is nice and useable with only a split in the dash pad and small holes in the drivers seat where it looks like wear from getting in and out. The car had several dirt dobber nests in it and you can see the remnants on the inside of the top. The top is soft and pliable, no tears and quite useable as is. There is that usual split next to the mirror on the driver's side door, not as bad as many but still there. I do have the driver's side mirror. If you're looking for an inexpensive B then this is the one. With a little effort you should be riding. The tires were probably new in 97 and hold air, they do show signs of dry rot on the sides and should be replaced. They are fine for moving it around and hauling on a trailer. The handle is broke on the hood release cable and I have a pair of vise grips on it right now. The hood does close correctly. The cable thing always makes me nervous. Please ask all questions before bidding. I can take as many pictures as you need and will get them to you promptly. I have a clear signed title and bill of sale from previous owner and I will supply one as well. If you need to contact me, you can use EBay messaging or call Ron at 662-364-3368.
