Vehicle Detail
Good day everyone.I'd like to start the description with this quote: "I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one – and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces." So its time to sell the model T.Its a 1922 touring model. This is a 2 owner car.Second owner since 1985.Havent seen to much use, just a couple of carshows.Always garaged and never driven or left outside in the rain.It is a california car with no rust. The body still wears the original paint which still looks great after 90 years.Has a couple of nicks and chips, but hardly noticable.Body is very clean and straight. This is an unrestored all original car. The interior is original, seats are in great shape with no rips or cracks.Upholstery is a little dry but is still very presentable. The convertible top was changed recently as the fabric was showing rips and was coming apart. The engine starts right up,idles smooth,no leaks and doesnt smoke at all. A new 6 V battery was installed last year, along with a new muffler. All the other exhaust piping was retained along with the exhaust tip.Tires have decent thread on them, very minimal wear. The car starts right up and drives, this model came already with the electric starter. The car is equipped with both oil lamps and electrical headlights, horn and a Warford transmission. For those who dont know the Warford transmission, a selective sliding gear unit, was originally produced as the Conord transmission, a rear mounted unit in 1917. At this time, the Ford owner could purchase the unit with either an underdrive or overdrive and with 3 forward gear ratios, which combined with the Ford unit, provided 6 forward ratios and 3 reverse. The car comes with all the original tools, jack and the water bag.I even throw in a box of Gross bevel cut patches, curious if anybody still have one of these. Also have various spare parts that could be included in the sale like steering column,axles,rear-end and an extra frame.(I have no ideea how this stuff could be shipped,so i guess pick up only for the spares.) The car currently has the blue california plates as shown in the pictures. Cool facts as many of you might not about model T's that the engine was designed to run on petrol, kerosin or ethanol. It has a clean and free california title. Will ship in anywhere, buyer responsible to arrange shipping and pickup. Car will not leave until payment is cleared,no scammers. Payment need to be completed in 3 days after auction ends, otherwise it gets re-listed. Payment cash in person, wire transfer or certified money order. I reserve the right to end auction,as the car is advertised locally as well. If you have any question, fastest way to reach me is to call 8l8-3l0-l866. I will try to answer all the questions. If you want to see additional pictures please message me and I send you the link to a photosharing site. If you'd like to see the car running search on youtube "1922 ford model t touring all orginal runs " its the first video, in high definition. As far as what it needs, spare tire is bad,fan belt is old and needs to be replaced, everything else is in good working order. On Jan-19-12 at 17:39:09 PST, seller added the following information: Just an update as many of you asked about the vin number. The # 14625009 its a modern vin number assigned to the car in 84 by the california DMV. The engine #5290171 which was also the number for the car.It decodes as a 1921 Aug built one.The engines manufactured date doesnt always mean that that was the production of the chassis to.Sometimes they were installed in a couple days, weeks or months apart from the engine production. Please read this article on this link. You'll find the year/month/engine numbers. You can see all the engine numbers on this site: //www.mtfca.com/encyclo/sernos.htm
