1965 Mercury Comet CalienteTwo Door Hardtop! You are viewing a 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente 2 door hardtop in extremely nice condition. This is an original V8 289, C4 automatic car. I removed the original motor and replaced it with a fully rebuilt 5.0 H.O. Roller Motor with approx. 325 HP, also replaced was the original C4. An automatic 4 speed AOD was swapped in. This is a very nice combo with enough power to light up the tires for as long as you want, as well as cruise the highway nice with the OD. The swap was done very neat and clean. Looks like it was born there. With the serpentine belt system it is a very reliable setup as well. The original motor & tranny in clean running condition are also included in this sale. Newer full Flowmaster dual exhaust w/ H pipe looks great exiting out the back and sounds incredible! The brakes have been completely gone through including master cylinder, new shoes, hoses, wheel cylinders & hardware. Mostly all suspension replaced including shocks, sway bar bushings & end links, all four ball joints, lower control arms, inner & outer tie rods on both sides, and idler arm, and drag link ( still needs alignment, but its close). The power steering control valve was replaced. The wheels are a brand new set of Wheel Vintique Magnum 500's w/ rare Mercury Man center caps and a new set of RWL radial tires. This car was built to handle and drive, with safety in mind. The body is 99% rust free. The car has had one repaint of its original Ice Blue factory color sometime back in the 80's, and although not perfect, still shines and shows nicely. The undercarriage is immaculate, the floors look like a two year old car. Frame rails, shock towers, inner wheelhouses, trunk all look excellent. Needs a windshield, all other glass is mint. The bumpers have been rechromed, the stainless is very nice and only small pitting on some of the pot metal. The interior is mostly redone in its original blue color, new seats & head liner. The door panels are nice and the dash has no cracks, The original wood wheel is in very good condition. Needs an armrest. I think all electrics work, except maybe the radio & horn.All in all this is a very nice desirable car that is ready for the road.
