1966 FORD FAIRLANE 500 CONVERTIBLE WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES. This car has the original motor, transmission and rear end. It is a 289 four barrel engine and automatic transmission. It starts easily, does not smoke and the transmission shifts smoothly. This car can be driven home. If you are looking for a good car to paint and fix up or restore, this would be a good one. COSMETICS: THE BAD I will start my description by saying the car does not look as good in person as it does in the pictures. It does not have any dents, but the paint is popping off in several places. The car has been painted before but needs painting again. The car does have some bubbling in the lower rear quarters other lower areas. I would count on stripping the paint and repairing a several places. The top has two holes in it, looks like a small limb fell on it. The dash has several cracks. The windshield looks new, but has two hairline cracks that look like they happened on installation. The top header appears very solid and the stainless looks good. Floor pans up front has some rust thru in the front part, but can be repaired without replacing the floor pan. I think the rear floor pans are solid, but have not removed the carpet to evaluate them. The trunk pan looks good now but has had reair ( pics) COSMETICS: THE GOOD This car is very straight.The doors, hood, trunk and other body parts fit very well and have even gaps. The door open and close easily. All the locks work with the original keys. The bumpers are original and are very nice for a driver car. The interior is original except for seat covers. ( pics) MECHANICS: The power steering belt has been removed because the lower PS cylinder starting leaking at the seals. PS Cylinder is available thru AUTOZONE for $144. Car can be driven like it is but steers like a manual steering. Power brakes work good. Car drives good. The power top works good. The tires are good. QUESTIONS WELCOMED. I WILL SELL IT OUTRIGHT FOR $5000 SUMMARY: Original stock car with just the air breather replaced and painted at some point. Very good car to restore. Very good car to fix up as you drive it.
