1985 MERCEDES-BENZ 300CD TURBODIESEL COUPE – W123 – RARE LEATHER SEATS! Super clean and strong running W123 series diesel coupe. This rare example in “Blau-Schwartz” (Blue-Black) with optional black leather interior is a strikingly beautiful color combination. Car is fully loaded and all systems are working well. Paint is very glossy and shows extremely well. It is sure to bring its new owner many years and miles of service. These cars routinely run many hundreds of thousands of miles without a rebuild. Very complete service records back to 1985 show this to be an extremely well maintained example of one of Mercedes’ finest designs. If you’ve been looking for a clean W123 coupe, this is your car! Equipment/Options (All systems working) -3.0 Liter 5 cyl Turbo-diesel – Running well with no issues. -4 Speed Automatic Transmission – Shifts smoothly through all gears. -Tachometer -Electric Clock -Automatic Climate Control – AC blows cold, heater blows hot. All controls/ducting/defrosters working perfectly. R134 Conversion. -Cruise-control (“Tempomat”) -Sunroof. -Power Steering and Brakes. -Power Windows. (Left rear window only lowers ½ way down. All others working perfectly) -JVC HDR60 CD/FM/AM/MP3 Stereo with remote control. -Power Antenna. New September 2011 -Rear Window Defroster. -Vacuum system for door locks, engine shut-off and other systems is working perfectly with no issues. -Firestone FR380 Radial Tires – 55,000 mile tires. Appx 40,000 miles remain. Size: 205/70R14 Exterior Condition. -No rust and a very straight body. Paint is Mercedes code 199 Blau-Schwartz. It is a very dark metallic gray. Paint on most of car is original, very clean and has a nice gloss. (see note below on September 2011 paint repair) It shows some typical wear from 26 years and 176,000+ miles of service. -Chrome bumpers are straight, rust free and shine like new. Grille and emblems are all very clean and shine like new. -Original rubber mouldings are intact and in good overall condition with some typical cracking in a few spots. -Headlight bezels are crystal clear and all lights function normally. -September 2011 Paint Repair – Paint on left side was scratched in a few places during its truck transport from California in August 2011. A small ding was also sustained on the left fender wheel opening during this transport. An insurance claim was filed and repairs were conducted at a Mercedes Certified Body Repair Facility (LaMettry’s – Bloomington, MN) Most of left side was repainted during this repair. Outstanding paint matching and repairs are evidenced. Automatic antenna was also replaced at this time. Interior Condition. -Seats are in rare black leather and are in very good original condition. Some stitching around bottom of front seats has let go and there is one small tear on the left seat where seat material tucks around seat frame. Otherwise they are rip free and the leather shines up nicely. Some chafing of rear seats is seen where seat belts extend from the rear deck area. -Door panels are very clean and sag-free. Door map pockets are complete. -Wood trim is very nice and an upgraded wood shift knob is included. (Original shift knob is included). -Carpets are original and free from any rips or tears. Included are clean Mercedes emblem carpeted front floor mats. -An upgraded JVC CD/FM/AM HDR60 stereo plays through the original speakers. Stereo includes USB and “Aux” inputs for MP3 formatted music. Fader rotary dial on center console still works. Power antenna is tied to the stereo power switch. -Sun visors are clean and free from rips or cracks. Mirrors are intact but mirror cover doors are removed. -Power Sunroof operates well and closes leak-free. Mechanical Condition. Current mileage is 174,680. Engine, chassis and drive-train are running strong and still performing with classic Mercedes ride and smoothness. Acceleration is strong and 0-60 times are still within 1 second of the original spec. Service records are very complete and show many important replacements within the last 25,000 miles. They are not speed-demons but rather are moderately powered diesel cars that take some getting used to if you are not familiar with them. Starting out from a dead stop requires more accelerator than you would typically use until the turbo starts to kick in around 2200RPM. From there the engine pulls strongly and whisks you up to freeway speeds. The diesel is surprisingly smooth and quiet at all speeds. These cars ride very nicely with independent suspensions and good sound isolation. These cars are very solidly constructed and impart a feeling of security like few other cars. 4-wheel disc brakes stop the car very strongly. Sale Details -Reason for sale: I purchased the car in August 2011 from a private seller in California. I planned to use the car for long-distance travel with a new job. The job did not materialize as planned and I’ve decided to sell the car as I have three others. The car is in a heated garage until sold. -Included with the sale are: Indoor car cover, carpeted Mercedes floor mats, full size spare and tools, spare fuel filters and all original Owner’s Manuals.
