Vehicle Detail
1995 Geo Metro up for bid or sale. 3-cyl, 1.0 liter engine mounted to a 5-speed manual transmission. Averages 42-45 mpg in city driving, 45-50 mpg for highway driving. Vehicle has 148K miles and still has plenty more to give. New Transmission has only 20K miles logged, tires are at 80%/13K miles driven. I have owned the car for the last 5 years and only used it to drive to work, only racking up 21K miles during that time. Some items that has been replaced/repaired while I've owned it: Transmission, tires, spark plugs, wires, cap/rotor, camshaft and crankshaft oil seals, timing belt, CV halfshafts, rear wheel bearings, front brakes, water pump, battery, battery ends, and rear hatch shocks. Parts are very inexpensive for these vehicles, most of the maintenance performed was preventive in nature. The rims are not original equipment, they came with the car when I purchased it, never had any problems with them. Cosmetically, the paint and body is not great. The paint is fading and there are dings and scratches in several places, including a dent in the lower driver door where my neighbor backed into it. The door operates and would have been replaced if replacement doors were easy to find in junk yards. The interior is in good shape with the exception of the headliner, which has started to sag. It is pinned up and doesn't inhibit the driver or passengers. The seats are in very good shape, no tears or noticable damage. The gas guage reads 1/4 off. Never saw a reason to fix the problem. I easily wait until the odometer reads around 350 miles and then buy fuel. All other electrical components work fine. The car will include a JVC Stereo/CD player, with aux plug and remote control. Honestly, I believe this is great car and I'll be sad to see it go. It is a great first-time driver car or spare second car. Remember, it's a 3 cylinder car designed for great fuel economy, it is not high performance in any way. It's worth it weight in gold when gas prices soar, never put more than $30 to fill the tank. Whomever purchases the car will also receive a repair manual and any extra items I may have relating to the Metro. Please let me know if you have any questions about the Metro. Thanks for looking. On Dec-23-11 at 09:51:04 PST, seller added the following information: Some updates: The car does have California plates, although it's located in NJ. It was shipped here by car carrier two years ago when the military moved me to NJ. The plates will be removed when sale is finalized. The underbody area doesn't appear to have any rust, just surface coating, the same stuff any other car would have. The exhaust parts do have some rust, but that is common for it's purpose. There are no visable holes, although the exhaust may need replacing in a year or so based on its usage. The parts are easily available and aren't very expensive. More pictures are available if requested. The gas guage does work, the only issue is when it reads empty, there is actually about a 1/4 tank left. I based that on when I filled up with gas, it only took about 6-7 gallons. There was still 3-4 gallons left in the 10 gallon fuel tank. Lastly, the Metro is also for sale in my local area and may be pulled from E-Bay if outside sale develops. Thanks for all of your questions.
