!!! NO RESERVE !!! HIGHEST BIDDER GETS THE CAR !!! THIS CAR IS RELISTED AFTER FAILING TO MEET THE OLD RESERVE OF $2450 !!! BID NOW AND WIN THIS CAR !!! Selling a 1986 Porsche 944 in very good condition. Complete clutch replacement; along with rear brake rotors and new discs 3 years ago. Clutch master and slave cylinder replaced 4 years ago. New water pump, belts, hoses installed 5 years ago when I got the car. Never any other serious issues. Several small fixes. Odo at 178k, over-estimated after odometer froze twice. Replaced the gears, actual mileage probably closer to 176k. Full documentation on all repairs. I am a second time Porsche owner, and I got this car after my father wrecked my 1972 Porsche 914. I never felt the same connection with this car that I did with the 914 because this 944 was just too damn reliable! What fun is a classic car if it rarely breaks down and you never have to take it apart? I need to sell this car because I have a second baby on the way and I need the money for a deposit on a house rental. NOTE: I had already sold several parts from the 914 under a different eBay account (my mother’s) If you want to review feedback, the account name is greenweedz (393, 100% positive feedback) and the transactions were between June and August 2006. The known history of this car goes back to 1993, with 90,625 miles on a vehicle history report. It was in NJ for all of its life until I moved out of the state. The previous owner before me went to jail and got his car impounded and auctioned off. It was bought by a man who cleaned and resold cars for a living. I got it in very good condition with little work needed and some nice surprises. The PO had installed a stealthy Spectrum Whistler radar detector setup hardwired to lights in the instrument panel. Works great on most radar but not on some newer lasers. Also installed an alarm system, a nice stereo system, and some switches to which I never figured out the function. The only known mechanical issues with this car are: (I left some fun projects for you to do!) 1) Power steering pump. I made the mistake of putting power steering fluid in it when it sprang a small leak instead of the required ATF Dexron. Now it will not hold any fluid very long. It still drives okay but it is like a manual steering car. It is hard to turn when you are going slow and can whine when you turn it all the way. Recommended to replace the power steering pump. You can find ones for $100 on eBay or rebuilt ones for more from some online stores. 2) Air conditioning does not work to cool the air. Heater works fine and blower works fine. The AC compressor is still in the car along with the hoses. It might need just some more refrigerant, or it might need a complete overhaul. I never really needed the AC so it wasn’t a priority for me to check. 3) Rear wiper motor does not work. It will start but only moves in a very limited range. Known cosmetic issues: (most are shown in pictures, contact me if you need more pictures anywhere) 1) Someone keyed my car when I first got it. It’s just a small dent on the driver's side of the hood and a scratch going about 4 inches. Can be seen in the picture of the headlights. 2) A rock chip on the driver's side of the windshield. It doesn't obscure vision much and there are no cracks spreading out from the chip. 3) Some minor scratches and chipped paint around the undercarriage. 4) Cracks in the dash, about 3 or 4 of them. 5) Glovebox compartment hinge is broken and hangs down when open. Cheap to fix. 6) Split vinyl on the driver’s seat. To remedy, I bought two custom-fitted black/tan spacer mesh seat covers from Coverking. They are included. 7) Separation of the foam from the carpet in one of the rear trunk compartments. Other than these small issues, the car is in really amazing condition as far as I know. I even fixed a small oil leak by replacing the rear cam housing gasket. It feels and drives like a much lower mileage car! I’m confident it can go well past 200k or 250k barring unforeseen engine issues. Included with this car are: The two custom-fit seat car covers, space-saver spare tire, jack, original tool kit, and even the original plastic gloves still in their bag, original driver’s manual, red touch-up paint kit, matching red snow scraper, and a tan steering wheel cover that matches the seat color. I preferred the bare wheel but I’m throwing it in anyway. NOTE: Due to some paperwork requirements, I can’t accept a single check for more than $3000. If the auction goes higher than that amount, please contact me to discuss arrangements. We could split it into two checks or figure out something. A discount may even be possible for the inconvenience! Please contact me through eBay with serious questions only! I will only sell this car through eBay, by certified check, money order or cash only! Test drives and mechanic pre-purchase inspections are welcomed!
