Vehicle Detail
This is my 1970 AMC Javelin that I built as a tribute car in the same vein as the Mark Donohue Cars of the era. The car is coded as a 304 auto matador red car with the SST trim however I have changed it to a 360 with the silver Dash and trim instead of the faux wood grain and the colour is now "Sonic Silver" a 1 year only colour for 1970 which was mixed in Base coat Clear coat from a formula given to my paint guy directly from Dupont in Texas off of their original lacquer formula. This car was a 2 year build for me and was built with nothing but the best components. Some of the features include Engine - Standard bore 360 with mild cam, Holley Street Dominator intake, Edelbrock 650 cfm carb, Edelbrock chrome valve covers and air cleaner, K&N air filter, Headman Dog Leg Headers, HEI distributor, Bulltear matched Cam Gear, Painted original Alimosa Blue and plumbed with Russell braided -8 lines everywhere. Converted to a chromed GM style one wire alternator with internal regulator. Transmission - 904 Torqueflite with a B&M shifter Interior - New Carpet, Headliner 120mph speedo but have put in a tach where the clock usually goes as this was a factory option in 1970. All black vinyl and have put HUSHMAT throughout the interior. AM radio and Tilt Steering Column with Signed Mark Donohue Racemark Steering Wheel. Exterior- Donohue spoiler with Signature Decal, Front stainless Group 19 spoiler, Ram air hood (missing inside components), Shadow Mask which is normally reserved for the AMX however I always wanted to do one on a Javelin. Original Simulated Exhaust rocker covers not repops. Wheels and Tires - 17 inch wheels from a Bullitt mustang replaced centers with 3 bar spinners. Rubber has only seen 2 summers use and I don't do alot of burn outs so still plenty of tread left. Needs Fixing - Recently developed a backfire from a hole in headers have purchased new headers and will go with the car. Transmission has a leak from front seal and will need to be replaced. This car is fast and strong and recently took second place at the Northern Ramblers all AMC show this summer. Have a whole bunch of before and after pics or you can check out http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3388433/1970-amc-javelin to see all the before and after pictures. Thanks for looking
