Vehicle Detail
1970 Camaro, factory RS/SS big block car. This is a true Rally Sport, split bumper car. It's not a normal base Camaro with split bumpers added. Has the correct and original endura nose, with the round Rally Sport only turn signals. Originally equipped with a 396, it now has a 454 in it. This car was originally a big block car, but is not a numbers matching car by any means. Due to the fact that the Van Nuys plant didn't put any option codes on their trim tags, there is no documentation. It does however have a factory Turbo 400 trans, which means it was either a big block car, or a Z/28, and I don't think it was a Z/28 because the front sway bar is the smaller version. It does however have factory installed rear sway bar mounts. Body is flawless. Original CA car since new, no accidents, no rust, no bondo. Body is laser straight. Paint is excellent, top quality. Has 4 brand new 235/60/15 BF Goodrich Radial TA's on original SS wheels. Engine is mellow, sounds nice, has 3 chamber flow masters, headers, quadrajet carb, early Chevelle 396 closed chamber oval port heads. Heads were just done by Valley Head Service. Polished combustion chambers. 1973 vintage 454, 0.030 over, 10:1 compression, mild cam, specs unknown. Engine was rebuilt less than 30k miles ago. Starts right up, and runs nicely. Has a Holley carb. The distributor vacuum advance isn't hooked up, I couldn't see a ported vacuum source on the Holley. It's not a race car, just a nice driver. Needs a few details to really finish it off. Needs a new dash, and some minor wiring work on the inside to make the instrument cluster work. There is no power getting to the cluster, so none of the gauges are working. Headlights, tail, stop lights, everything works. Needs a wiper motor. Hood is a steel cowl induction. Z28 emblems were added for unknown reason. Car used to have a fuel cell in the trunk, so there are some holes here and there for fuel lines, wiring, etc. My goal was to bring the car back to a more stock appearance, so I removed most of that stuff. Has it's original 12 bolt rear end with 3.55 posi. Also has subframe connectors and traction bars. All in all, with about 2 weekends worth of work, you'd have a car you could take to any cruise nights, and even win some small local shows with. This car gets major attention everywhere it goes. I have too many projects, and it's time to move on. Clean, clear, CA title in hand, in my name. This car is a great project. A few weekends work would have it completely done and on the road. I've driven the car around locally a few miles. Due to the instrument cluster not working, I don't drive it far. I wouldn't drive this car any distance without working temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, etc. Free delivery with buy it now, anywhere in Southern California, or Las Vegas area. The car does drive and handle very nicely, and has a great sound to it. Please call with any questions, I'm more than willing to spend time on the phone to make sure you understand what you are getting, and to make sure this is the right car for you. Thanks! I'm not trying to be harsh, but I've been burned way too many times by people who don't know how eBay works. I'm a very nice guy, very easy to deal with, and I'll do whatever I can to assist you. Good luck! On Nov-29-11 at 07:01:48 PST, seller added the following information: Yesterday I hooked up the distributor vacuum advance, adjusted the idle, and set the timing. It's running very nicely. In addition to the holes in the trunk from the fuel cell, I forgot to mention someone welded a plate to the trunk floor with fuel cell mounts welded on. These could be removed, but it may be easier just to install a new trunk pan. There is no rust, but it just may be easier than trying to remove the brackets and plate. Also, to clarify, the car has factory rear sway bar mounts on the frame, but as you can see in the pictures, the rear sway bar is no longer there. Also, as you can see in the pictures, the car has dual electric fans. I do have the stock clutch fan that goes with it. I don't have the shroud though. Finally, I'm getting a lot of calls, people asking how many miles it has, does the horn work, where is the radio, etc. If these are your major concerns, this is probably not the right car for you. Thanks for all your interest, I hope she goes to a great home!
