Vehicle Detail
Description1949 willy's overland jeepster. This vehicle is sold AS-IS, and the buyer pays all government taxes and fees. Converted to an inline 6 cylinder chevy engine with a two speed automatic transmissionI always get at least one or two "nice car" comments when I take this out. It's a pretty unique car and people want to know what it is. I bought this car from a shriner who used it as a parade car. It was intended for my dad but he developed a health condition where he can no longer drive so we're selling it. The odometer says 32,714 but I don't know if this is accurate. Details & AestheticsOverall, this car would need a major overhaul to achieve a show-quality / original restoration finish. It is, however, a great everyday driving car, and the last owner used it as a parade car. Paint has cracking. You can see from the pictures that at a distance it's not too noticeable, but you can see it in the close ups. Chrome is pitted and should be redone in most places. Interior is black carpet and vinyl seating.Front seats push forward so you can access the back seat. Needs a new top, but it does have the frame with the old top. Does not have side curtain frames. Speedometer, gas and most of the other gauges seem to be working fine.Gauges light up at night (see picture) Doors are hard to close, you have to pull down on the lever and pull the door shut. Battery is 12V.Windshield wipers don't workHeadlights and right and left blinkers do work. Blinkers turn off after you finish your turn.Has a horn, but it is a separate button on the steering column. Paint on the back panel of the spare wheel well is more of a matte finish, but not noticeable from a distance. There is a spare tire in the wheel well. Back top cover which is also vinyl has tears where the top frame pokes through. No radio, but there are speakers. I see some loose wires where I think you could hook up a radio.Heater works, but the fan seems slow. There is a small fluid leak that we catch with a few newspapers on the floor. It's not enough to affect the levels. Driving Car is in driving condition and is driven several times a month. Starts easily if you drive it often. If not, you can put a small amount of gas or starter spray in the carburetor and it will start right up. Smooth sounding engine. Two speed transmission.Sometimes you have to let off the gas to get it to switch into second gear. We mostly drive it in town where it easily keeps pace with traffic. It can get up to speed on the interstate, but it has no seatbelts or airbags so we rarely drive there. Steering is pretty good, I usually drive with one hand. It doesn't have power steering so you will probably use two hands to turn, especially in parking lots. Here's a panoramic view of the interior, I did my best to get the images lined up. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=c8b514fa-cf6c-44ac-b6d7-27b2295b7176&m=false&i=0:0:0&c=0:0:0&z=531.364772509421&d=2.3852967825062:2.59413327168439:1.26933932037793&p=0:0&t=False Here's a video of the car driving.
