Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for auction is my 1985 Merkur XR4Ti, which I purchased new in Portland, Oregon. This car is in excellent condition, having enjoyed meticulous maintenance its entire life (complete service and parts records go with car). It has always been garaged, and the car appears much younger that its age would suggest given my efforts to keep it in top operating form. Our mild west coast climate has been kind to the interior (no dash cracks or other premature wear) and the cloth upholstery and carpet look great. The heated seats and mirrors have always worked well. Yes, the odometer has turned over and the actual mileage is 177,000, but one should not be concerned with the car’s condition or reliability. I would have no reservations about driving it across the country tomorrow. Although the car is generally stock and original in appearance, the following upgrades or modifications have been made: Cosworth grill panelBorla stainless steel exhaust systemHeavier sway bars front and rear (Rapido)Koni rear struts (front Koni struts are in a box) K & N air filter The following items have been replaced or performed in the last two years or 5,000 miles: Front brakes, including new rotorsRear brakes, including wheel cylindersAir conditioning rechargeTune-up, including plugs, wires, rotor and capInstrument panel bulbsRadiator, relay and cooling switch Battery The following items have been replaced in the last 15,000 miles: Fuel injectorsClutchAlternatorFront struts (Sachs)Transmission mount Last summer I installed a new Alpine CD player with iPod/MP3 interface, and replaced the power antenna. Older Clif Design tweeters and mid-range speakers (4 each) are installed in the doors and next to the rear shelf, and a subwoofer is located under the hatch. The crossover unit is discretely installed in the glove box and amps are located under the front seats. Virtually everything works as it should on this car, with the following exceptions: The warning lights in the center housing flash intermittently (like most XR4Ti's) and I have the connector unplugged so they don't flash. I have another set of panels, displays and connectors but have not yet plugged them in to see if they work better (they come with the car). There is a small vacuum leak at the vacuum canister (another common issue) that allows a little fresh air into the interior during hard acceleration. Occasionally the driver's side window does not go up when you push the switch. My trick to get it to work is to tap the interior door panel a few times -- which must jiggle a loose connection. Sometimes it goes a year without this occurring and sometimes it will happen a few times in a month. The driver’s side front wheel liner should be replaced, and I have a new one ready to install that I’ll sell separately at a low price. The car is essentially rust-free and the paint is excellent overall. There are some rock chips in the front part of the hood and there are very few minor dings. The cladding is in great shape while the rear spoiler is getting a bid faded compared to the rest of the car’s paint – but still looks black. The Bridgestone Potenza RE950s mounted on stock 1985 XR4Ti rims have plenty of tread left. I also have a nice set of Bridgestone Blizzak M+S tires used one short season to fit an extra set of stock rims that I will sell separately at a low price.
