Vehicle Detail
My wife and I are selling our 1984 Monte Carlo SS "As Is". We are the second owners. We bought it in 1986 from a dealer in Simi Valley Ca. At that time it had 32000 miles on it. The speedo head was replaced in 2002 at 80,000+ miles and it now reads 4500, so I believe the total miles to be less than 90K. Through the years it was hardley ever driven but time took it's toll so we have been replacing several things that needed attending to such as: Minor body work to take out door dings and minor things like waves in the hood etc. Just had it repainted with the original type single stage factory white. Replaced all the "Monte"and "SS" decals and stripes.("Factory Correct replacements"). The paint is not a "flawless" job but it actually looks better than the factory one did. Replaced the carpeting with Original Parts Group kit. Just had the front and rear seats re-upholstered as well as the headliner and sunvisors. Replaced the outer door handles, door locks and trunk lock with OPG factory reproduction ones as they were faded and worn. Replaced the inner door lock and window switches with OPG replacements as the chrome looked bad. Resealed the rear 1/4 windows. Repainted all of the black outside window trim pieces as they were faded. The plastic clips for the front window trim still needs replacing. Installed a complete dash cap over the old dash as it was discolored and cracked. Haven't completely finished that as I am having back problems and can't do what I used to be able too. It would only take somebody about 1 hour to lift it up and apply the adhesive required to secure it permanentaly. The simulated wood grain on the passenger side dash is faded. The engine is a 305 high performance (factory) and runs good but could use a tune up. It does smoke upon first starting due to Chevy's lack of proper valve guide seals. The transmission is fine. It is a 3 speed with overdrive (factory). The vehicle has Power windows, brakes, door locks, tilt wheel, cruise and AC (needs o-rings at the compressor to hose connection and recharging), The SS's came with upgraded Z-28 suspension and it rides, corners and handles really nice. The exhaust has been replaced front to rear with Flomaster mufflers. The catalytic converter on the car has been gutted but I have the factory stock one for smog purposed in states where needed. The registration was current until last month when we put it "Non-Op" here in Ca because we are not driving it. We have about 6 vehicles and registration was too expensive for vehicles we are not using. The brakes are good and the tires are about 1/2 worn. The "intermittant" part of the wiper motor went inop, needs looking into. The vehicle is certainly not perfect but most of the expensive things are done. In the last year we have spent about $5000.00 on the vehicle. Ph# weekdays and weekends 9AM to 8PM is 805-579-8784 Thanks For Looking!!
