This 1967 Jeep was placed in service at our firehouse in 1977. It was provided to the Fire Company through Civil Defense (note the orignal "CD" sticker on the fender). We painted it red and placed it in service as a brush truck. Mileage reads 26,200 miles, but not sure if that is accurate. The VIN number on the dashboard is 31162. Official Title: 1967 Kaiser 1 1/4 Ton Military Jeep 4x4 M715 Troop and Weapons Carrier. This had a 258 C.I. Six Cylinder Overhead Valve with 120 Horsepower, but is now powered with a Chevrolet 250 cu. In.6 cylinder of unknown vintage. 4-Speed manual Transmission. The federal government paid $4,800 per unit when new in 1967. There are 4 brand new tires on the vehicle with less than 100 miles on them! The electrical system was converted from 28 volts to a 12 volt system. The seats are not original. The truck is bulletproof, hard as nails and runs great with no issues. So why are we selling it? It responds to a limited amount of calls, usually under ten per year. We are reducing unnecessary apparatus from our fleet. The vehicle does not comply with NFPA standards, (open cab, no seat belts etc.) It has been inside the firehouse for the last 34 years, with limited use. The vehicle would make a nice rock crawler, or can be restored back to Vietnam era complete with OD Green paint. It has a canvas canopy that came with the truck when we received it. Often times the vehicle is used without the canopy top. It is rarely driven in the rain, since most brush fires happen on the brightest days. There is no corrosion at all on this truck. Many locals have asked us over the years- "when you go to sell it, let me know". Well, here it is! Ready to spend the rest of its days having fun and doing what it was built for, climbing mountains and four wheelin'. Important Stuff: We are bunch of firefighters and prefer cash buyers who are real people. We will not ship this truck anywhere, so you must hire a shipper to pick it up for transport. You can drive it away, it runs and drives great. (A lot of fun). NOTE: We will not respond to overseas transactions or BS cashiers check mailed to us from Nigeria. We will accept a certified bank check upon verification of funds. We prefer you inspect this vehicle for yourself. We make no claims as to its suitablity as a passenger vehicle or whether it can be registered in your state.
