Vehicle Detail
The following descriptions are from the previous owner. Nothing has changed except I added two new original fender mirrors shown in one of the new picture. I am selling my 1971 Datsun 510 2dr. The car is about 99.9% finished. The car is registered (clean title), insured and I drive it periodically, but I have lost interest in the car. So it is time to let it go. History: I purchased someone else's project with the intent to build myself a daily driver. The previous owner had installed the drivetrain and had done most of the suspension work. This below is his description of motor/drivetrain suspension: “The engine is all an new/rebuilt L20B bored .040 over. It runs smooth and sound, starting up every time you crank it. I have added the following all new parts (Weber 38DGES Carb, Round Port Header, RV Camshaft, Electronic Distributor, Water Pump, Thermostat, Alternator, Fuel Pump, Radiator, Starter, Billet Timing Chain Inspection Cover, Polished Valve Cover, Lokar Throttle Cable) The Transmission is a Dogleg 200 5 Speed thats in great shape. The rear end is a Subaru WRX R160 rear diff with custom machined stub axles and clips to keep the stubs seated and sealed. The suspension/brakes are all new/rebuilt and as follows (280zx front brakes and KYB GR2 shocks, 280ZX rear finned drums with 510 fitment KYB GR-2 shocks, sitting on Suspension Techniques springs, all rolling on PanaSports in a staggered 14x6.5 rear and 14x6 front wrapped in New Sumitomo HTR tires. “ The car has a 2.5in mandrel bent exhaust. I was not happy with the original sound of the engine with a single muffler (too high pitch) so a second race muffler was added. The car has a great exhaust sound. Body and Paint: I was not happy with the color of the car when I purchased it (spearmint). When I started sanding the paint I found small amounts of surface rust. I then stripped the entire car to bare metal and addressed what little rust I found. The body work was redone and the car was repainted 93 Miata blue. The chrome/stainless was sandblasted, primed and then shot in satin black. The bumpers were also sand blasted, the seams were welded and then smoothed and painted satin black. The paint is really nice, but it is not absolutely perfect. All marker lights were replaced. I cleaned and rebuilt the taillights. The door latches were also cleaned and rebuilt and installed with new hardware. Almost all the hardware (nuts, bolts etc) was replaced with new. Interior/seals etc: The interior is in great condition. The car entire passenger compartment was insulated with Fat Mat. The front seats are new high back racing style seats (comfortable), the headliner is new, The rear seat was recovered and is in great shape. The carpet is custom and looks nice. The dash is in great condition (no cracks). The car has a pioneer CD player with 6” speakers in the door and 6X9s in the rear deck. All of the seals were replaced in the car with a kit from Datsunland Socal. It has a new Auto power roll bar in it as well. The front seat belts are new aftermarket pieces. I have hundreds of hours into this car, and have described the car to my best ability. I may have missed something in the description so if you have questions regarding the car or would like additional specific pics, please feel free to contact me.
