This auction is for a super nice 1978 Dodge W200 Power Wagon truck with all aluminum rear box, which has multiple size compartments, some with shelves, durable double wall box doors with large D ring turn lock handles. Center floor section between box sides is also aluminum plate. This truck is retired from our township fire department, and had been used for grass fire control. A later model truck with updated equipment has replaced this unit. This truck body has no rust, solid as the day it was new. Drivetrain is excellent. Mileage is only 14,652 and it has seen very good care, always been garaged, kept cleaned, and serviced. The truck body is rust free and solid as the day it was new. Engine is a 360, 4 barrel , automatic transmission, four wheel drive. Starts right up, and runs nice and smooth. GVW rated at 8000 lbs. The twin adjustable spotlights do work and the back sides are red light lens that have flashing option. Everything works as it should. This would make an excellent farm service vehicle for servicing equipment in the field, or for any contractor that has tools and equipment to haul to work sites where you need a truck to get into rough terrain and get back out. Each cab door does have two mirror mount holes from original low mount mirrors that were removed, for installing the extended mirrors. Doors have seen some paint work over neighboring fire department name. The lights in the storage compartments do not work, seems to be a power supply issue with them. The storage compartment doors do not have security locks, only the open/closed locks. The tires do hold air fine, and also have choppy worn tread, not smooth highway tires. Under carriage is solid, see no rust issues, just normal light surface rust on stuff like springs, axel housings, etc. (almost 34 years old) I will try to answer any questions that I can.On Nov-16-11 at 07:01:24 PST, seller added the following information:Answers to more questions: The fuel and brake lines are solid, not leaking, do not look weak at all. The gas tank is made of a poly/plastic material that will not rust thru. Did notice a floorboard patch on the drivers side foot area. There is a battery disconnect switch on floor just inside the drivers door. The cab corners and fenders are very solid, looks to be all original. They look as solid as new, with no repairs. The township cannot provide any warranty, so as with any older used vehicle, it is sold in as is condition.
