This 1953 GMC half-ton is a solid truck in good condition. Just about all original. Drive as is or restore. Starts reliably, shifts smoothly, good acceleration, idles quietly. I haven't had any problems with the engine - no oil burning, no overheating, good oil pressure, etc. "Stomp starter" with throttle and choke cables. New tires and spare. All gauges except the speedometer work. All lights work, inside and out. Heater works, cigarette lighter supplied (you connect). Garage mechanic wired the turn signals. Brakes are good, have just a little pull. There is a little play in the steering that hasn't bothered me. Original wood in bed is cracked but solid. No rust holes! Only surface rust. Dark green paint job with what looks like a clear coat that is flaking. The bumper has a mysterious bite out of it and is plenty scratched. I switched out the dented right front fender for an identical Chev fender (meant to be temporary). I've had a lot of fun driving this truck around town, but storage is an issue, especially since my son and I bought a VW camper van to work on together.
