Vehicle Detail
Great 2006 Jetta TDI up for sale! I am the original owner and have maintained this vehicle religiously. 165,900 miles and 99% of those are all highway driven. The car still drives great and produces 40+ MPG easily. This car came with the pkg 1 options to include sunroof and upgraded stereo. Car is a 5 speed manual and has never been in any form of accident. Options include:Moon RoofUpgraded factory stereoHeated front seats6 disk cd/mp3 changerice cold a/cauto up/down power windows in front and back I have personally performed every oil change with the correct vw spec 505.01 oil every 10k per the owners manual. Fuel and Air Filters done every 20k. First timing belt change was performed by a professional TDI mechanic at 80k and at 160k the second timing belt change was done as well as a new EGR cooler and Clutch/Flywheel. A new die hard battery was installed at 165k. If you have done your research on these TDI's you know that there are three short comings with this type of TDI engine. The Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) that comes with this vehicle is notorious for scattering. This was replaced at 160k with a stronger Single Mass Flywheel (SMF) and clutch to avoid any future problems with it. The SMF will produce a bit more noise (chatter) when the car is in neutral with the clutch out which is normal for a single mass flywheel. The EGR cooler is the second known issue with these cars and that was also replaced at 160k. The third problem is the cam that has a high rate of failure in these engines. At 160k, the cam was inspected on this car and it does show signs of wear although the engine still runs great and doesn't exhibit any signs of cam failure so it was recommended to not replace the cam at this point. A few internet searches on TDI cam's will give you days of reading material on this topic but this engine still runs great with no smoke or missing. The paint on the car is in overall good shape for having 165k miles but does have pebble chips on the front bumper from all the highway driving. The wheels still shine but do have some minor curb rash on two of the wheels (see pics). Interior is in great shape but the rubber coating on the radio buttons has worn away on some buttons due to my wife rubbing to hard on them while cleaning (See pics). The emergency flasher button in the dash has a broken clip so the button doesn't sit flush with the dash (see pics). This can be fixed very cheaply with a new clip but it didnt bother me enough to mess with it since the flashers still work fine. Windows are tinted on the car. Overall i think this TDI is in wonderful shape for having over 160k on it and much of the expensive maintenance items that have to be done on these cars when they get higher mileage has already been completed. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. I am located in the Kansas City area about 5 minutes from the KCI airport. I apologize for the pics of the car in the rain. We had some bad weather today when i took the pics.
