Vehicle Detail
21 Window Deluxe, I purchased this bus as a fresh restoration from northern California where it spent the first 38 years of it's life. I have owned it for 17 years and have always stored it in a heated garage. In all that time I've put about 3000 on the fresh engine, mostly Sunday drives around town. My wife and I are "downsizing" and we recently moved from a home with an 8 car garage to a home with a 3 car garage so a few cars and motorcycles have had to go. It's time I pass this along. Details: I am the 4th owner, purchased from Gary LaVere Restorations. Painted in Deltron Paint, Porsche Guards Red and Alpine white with wheels to match. Interior was done at TJ's Auto Upholstery, Martinez, CA, in vintage style. Balanced 1776 motor, Machine work and rods were done at CK Enterprises in Concord, heads got new valves, porting and a 3-angle valve job. Type 2 66 transaxle built by Elk Grove Gear, 4.125:1 ring and pinion, 3.80 first, 2.06 second, 1.21 third, 0.82 fourth.69mm crank counterweighted from CB performance.90.5 mm Mahle pistons and ringsEagle 110 camDual port heads8.0:1 compressionBosch 009 distributorDual 40mm WebersS&S header200mm 8-dowled flywheelSachs 200mm clutchRemote filter with oil cooler12v alternator, degreed pulley Westfalia rack, needs to be stripped and varnished. Paint touched up a little where rack meets roof. Fog lights, safari windows, trailer hitch,( I pulled a light trailer with vintage MC)Goodyear Eagle radials with about 1000 miles, Clarion 6CD changer, Blaupunct cassette, oil temp and pressure gages, Scat shifter, sun roof (new vinyl top and bra included), jail bars. Everything works, fuel guage, all lights and flashers, horn, wipers, heater, dome lights, wipers. Clock does not work. Decals are vinyl, easily removed. Brakes need work. When it sits for a while (which is most of the time) the first few times you step on the brakes, it will dart to the side. It gets better as you drive but in a panic stop it will pull to the side. I drive it cautiously because I'm aware of the problem. I have not touched the brakes in 17 years, it probably has moisture in the system and could use wheel cylinders, maybe shoes. Emergency brake will not hold, cable is stretched and may need pads. The good thing is parts are cheap and available everywhere. Body is very straight with no rust, original body and floor. there is a 4in sctratch on front bumper and a 3in shallow dent on rear under right tail light (see photo and video) sides are straight with no waves, paint is a 8-9, polishes up bright and shinny. Upholstery is excellent. Featured just before I bought it in Dune Buggies and Hot VW's, October 1994. All specs are from this article which goes with the bus. Listing above says 0 miles because I don't know how many are on it, speedometer shows about 30,000. I believe engine has 3000-4000 miles. I tried linking to two YouTube videos but Ebay would not accept the links. Send me your e-mail address and I'll send the links. Connecticut will not issue a title on a vehicle this old. It is currently registered in my name and the new owner will get the transfer form on the registration. Sale to USA only, full payment by wire transfer only in 7 days or cash on pickup in 7 days. I can store it for 2 weeks after payment if you have to arrange for shipment. May be inspected prior to end of auction. I have sold many of my collector cars and motorcycles and everyone was happy. I have 2 negative feedbacks. I sold a $2,500 camera, received deposit, seller could not come up with balance and I wouldn't return deposit, he gave me a negative. All my ads say USA only, I sold a motorcycle to someone who in the end was from Russia, I cancelled sale, he gave me a negative. On Nov-10-11 at 17:30:36 PST, seller added the following information: In looking through some old files I found that I do have a Connecticut title for this bus. I didn't think I did because this state doesn't issue titles on vehicles over 25 years old. It was issued to me in 1994 when I bought it. It shows mileage at the time of 23,230. I think now it has about 30,000+- so I put on about 7,000 miles in 17 years. On Nov-11-11 at 17:26:53 PST, seller added the following information: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ips17eWbjhAOn Nov-11-11 at 17:33:05 PST, seller added the following information: Two videos, copy and paste to your browser, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cQvuN8s_VA
