1982 Vanagon BioDiesel Westfalia Camper in Portland, Oregon. My beloved van is a stock n/a 1.6L VW diesel with the full Westy camper package. It's only real problem is the fried engine. The good things about this van are: It's all original in VG condition.VW key (new old stock) manuals and shop book included.The interior is in great shape overall, and the exterior is almost completely rust-free, the body, bumpers, and chassis are straight and in excellent shape. (There is a small, fixable dent in driver's door.)The underbody is rust free!The 4-speed tranny is in fine working order and all operational equipment is solid.It has a new muffler and clutch. Viton® tubing/Bio-fuel ready.Brand new injection pump ($600 value) with less than 3000 miles on it.The brake master cylinder is also brand new.The canvas tent is in great shape, but the screen is gone.Sink, stove, refrigerator and Westfallia camping package is all very nice except the faucet handle is missing (though the faucet still works).Owner fixable, not one computer chip in the whole rig And my least favorite good thing about this gem: it's Suburu conversion ready with its stock shortened bell housing. (Even if it gives you 80mph/30mpg, your stuck buying bloody gasoline) Here's what's "wrong" with the van:The glass in the sliding door needs replacing and the interior panel on the sliding door is not original.The aforementioned fixable dent in driver's door. No Battery.The odometer doesn't work, dead at 101313 (i estimate i put well less than 7000 miles on it).There's a small bit of rust on the sill of the rear passenger window and one on the lower left rear panel (that's it).The diesel-fueled cabin heater (that heats the cabin with the engine is off) needs going over.There's a couple bald spots in the rear carpet and some breath-condensation mold on the inside fiberglass pop-top. I can't get the pilot lit for propane-powered refrigerator (110v and 12v operational)There is a small burn mark on one of the tables and the faucet handle is missing (faucet operational)The rear slave cylinders need replacing (2 new cylinders included with sale)The passenger side view is cracked. Rebuilt engines can be purchased with core return: Short Block $1500, Long Block $1800 (shipping included); and this van with a good motor, sells quickly for $7k or better.I really wish I could keep this awesome rig, and the truth is, that some eBayer out there can better afford to give it the love it deserves. I bought the van in 2005, it had been sitting for five years with a blown head gasket; water had etched the cylinder wall and it required a rebuild. Over the next two and a half years i saved the cash for the rebuilt engine and the install. On my first trip, the injection pump began leaking and it was another two years before i could afford that fix. Another two thousand mile trip and the only problems were the the leaky tire and the "leaky" battery, both easy fixes. The mechanic who installed the engine is an upstanding professional but somehow, the engine fell out of the mount. NO damage was sustained, but to the plastic oil-fill spout which began leaking oil from the bottom of the pan; the idiot driver (me) failed to take the failure seriously until the clanking started. Too late. This is a rare rig in excellent condition Buyer pays half of all ebay/paypal fees. Deposit is earnest-money and not refundable. Thank you for looking/watching/bidding.
