This ’76 Merc has been a daily driver for me for five years, been on several road trips across this fine country and has a lot of miles left in her. The odometer/speedometer is not currently working so there is no way to know the exact mileage but I estimate around 350-400K. That’s less than half its life expectancy because these cars have been known to get to a 1,000K. Selling this car because I’ve just acquired another seasoned veteran of the road (53 Ford Consul). It’s a tough decision to sell her because the Merc has become a fixture in the neighborhood and everyone in town recognizes her as my car. Would like to find someone who would like to see how long she’ll keep on the road. Here’s a list of what I know about the car: -daily driver (never fells to start) -needs new tires and battery -pictures will show the car has RUST and is missing some body pieces -paint is charming (alligator texture from age), but will need redone if you want showroom finish -horsehair seats will need replaced if you want perfection -there is air conditioning and cruise control but will need work -tinted, power windows work -rear wheel, automatic, no anti-lock brakes so winter driving is risky -smooth, comfortable German suspension -transmission will need a flush as there is a shifting “flare” from 1 to 2 -about 27 mph (diesel) and can easily be converted to other types of fuel (biodiesel, veg oil) This auction is an “AS IS” sell. This is a 35 year old car with no warranty. Buyer will have to make arrangements for getting the car either pickup or shipped. Car does drive but will make no guarantee as to how far and how fast.
