Vehicle Detail

1965 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER TOWN & COUNTRY 6 PASSENGER WAGON History The introduction of the all new 1965 Chrysler line featured ads proclaiming “The most beautiful Chrysler ever built, Agreed?” The lineup was the first effort of a new to Chrysler designer, Elwood Engel, who had defected from Ford in 1961. He had designed the elegant 1961 Lincoln lines as well. The public must have agreed, as a record 224,061 new Chryslers of all series rolled off the line at Jefferson assembly in Detroit. A total of 1,382 New Yorker Town & Country 6 Passenger Wagons were produced in 1965. They came with a 340 HP 413 cubic inch 4 barrel V8 engine, backed by a 727 Torqueflite transmission. Power Steering and Power drum brakes were standard. The Town & Country Wagon offered here sold new in Claremore, Oklahoma. It seems that much of its life was spent in Ruidoso New Mexico as there are New Mexico registrations and several parking tickets from the Airport there included in the doc’s for this car. Also included are the window sticker and a paint build sheet found under the seats. The current mileage shown is 74,090. I believe this to be the correct mileage. This car is EXTREMELY LOADED! The equipment includes dual A/C, Power Windows and Door Locks, Auto Pilot, AM/FM Radio, Tilt Wheel , Luggage Rack, Vinyl Top, Tinted Glass and Sure Grip 8.75 Diff. IT WAS $6436 NEW IN 65! have always garaged the car during my ownership. Condition This Town & Country has a beautiful rust free Western body with nice chrome. I repainted it for the first time in 2009. It was refinished in the original color with Dupont Centari and was Colorsanded and polished. It has a Very Nice original Interior. The front seats were recently recovered in the correct material. The vinyl tops were replaced too. There is a minor stain on the rear original seat depicted in one of the photos. It runs and drives great and is very powerful. It holds great Oil pressure and runs cool. This car delivers 15-18 MPG highway on 89 Octane gas. The original emblems and trim are very nice as shown in the photos. Everything works with the following exceptions, The clock and Auto Pilot are inop and the A/C system is low on refrigerant. All Five Power windows zip up and down. Heat and Defroster system works fine as well. It has a nearly new matched set of 225.75 x 14 all season radials. We drove this car on a 450 Mile trip a few weeks back and it ran perfectly. It lost a bit of Oil on this trip although this might get better if the car is used regularly. Details This is a presentable 1965 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country in beautiful original condition with many original features that you can drive to Cruise Ins and shows right now. You can get into the Collector car hobby with a turnkey car. I believe that this New Yorker can be driven to any destination. It is freshly serviced and ready to go. I have done my best to make an accurate detailed description of this car. On Oct-16-11 at 06:42:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I did forget to mention that this car is also equipped with twin four way Power Bucket seats with right recline and stainless door edge guards.
