Vehicle Detail

I am selling this car for my late friend's widow. I always wanted it for myself & made a lot of attempts to buy it from the owner when he was alive. This lady has now decided to sell the car & the 1st person she called was me. Although I would love to buy it, I firmly believe that it would not be the right thing to do, no matter what I pay for the car. Someone will always be there to pass the remark that she could have got more. I am not willing to put myself in that position. However, I have committed to her that I shall help her with the sale. This is a very unusual & desirable collector car made in very limited numbers. The unusual features of this car are that it has dual air conditioning with seperate controls (front & back), same with the radio & has a divider between the driver & rear passenger compartment. How often do you come across a car like this? There are pleanty of Shadows on Ebay, but none like this & the low miles. I have known this car from day one. The mileage on this car is original & the car has never been titled (It will be sold with the orignal dealer MSO). It was purchased in Texas & driven down to Florida. That is the longest drive this car has ever had. All these years my friend had the car, he would very seldom drive it, hence the low mileage. In1985 when his health was failing & I made that last attempt to buy the car, he wanted the car to stay in the family so he gifted it to his 2 year old grandson. Now the story becomes very interesting. Since his grandson was only 2 years old at that time, my friend decided to safe keep the car out of the weather & other elements, so he had a shipping container delivered to his property & put the car in there under lock & key with instructions that the container would be opened only when his grandson was at an age to drive (I advised him against putting it in that container in this Texas heat but to no avail). Anyway, the container was finally opened in 2005 & his grandson's reaction was that the car was for an old man & he did not want any part of it. The container was shut again until early this year when I was called with the offer to buy it. I will try to describe this car to the best of my knowledge. I will start by saying that it was a very fine automobile with "0" imperfections & everything worked as it should when it was put in the container. NOW FOR THE BAD PART. The paint has totally dried & cracked all over the car & the left tail light is damaged. Other than that, all the chrome, glass etc. is in perfect condition. Some of the wood has the clear peeling, but not too bad. The front seats have some cracks but the back one is like new as I would guess that it may have never been sat on. I removed all the plugs & poured almost half a gallon of blaster in to all the cylinders & let it sit for almost 3 months. While the cylinders were left to soak, I got a battery hooked up to to check if all the electrical was working. Everything works fine except the Rt. rear window. The A/C compressor clicks on & off. I have only turned the motor over by hand & have made no attempt to crank her up. It will need a complete flush out of all the lubricants before any attempt is made to start the motor. We have been keeping a keen eye on Ebay and other sites for a couple of months to get a feel for the going prices for cars of this vintage. I sincerely hope that someone will get a good deal (NOT A STEAL) on this car. This car is being sold as is. Please ask questions before you bid & not after. You can reach me @ 713-851-8228 9am-10pm central time. The pictures you see is in its true form. No attempt has been made to deceive the buyer with spit & polish !!On Oct-15-11 at 10:53:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Look at the condition of the chrome !! Not effected by the heat like the paint.
