Vehicle Detail

OK I figure I will give this car a try to sell before I restore or I might do a fastback roof conversion. This car is a factory Ivy green car with black vynyl top and black interior. !!!!!!!!!!100% numbers matching/needing minor cosmetic restoration./this car has a mint trunk, rear and front rails, shock towers and original mint floors as well. This car was bought from a friend who's mother passed and she owned the car since the 1960's (late). What you are looking at is basically a GT in the stock or more sedate clothes. Factory options are V8 289 4v 225 horsepower. The required or base engine platform for a GT. 4 speed manual transmission (who could ask for more) 3.00 Posi rear gear Black Vynyl top. The pics I am attaching are my recent photos (not that good and from my cellular phone) which were required for the classic car auto insurance placed on the car. YEPP!!!!!!!the car is registered and insured and I drove it today! and title is clear in my name New Jersey title. Recently performed maintainence... -Rebuilt 4100 autolite carb -New gas tank -new water pump -new radiator (3 row) -Alternator -brake lines and all fuel lines -all brakes hardware, lines, hoses, wheel cylinders and master cylinder -new matched set of Styled wheels (from a 68 were put on the car) as I have a new matched set of 195 70 14 black wall radial tires now on the car. -if the buyer wishes I have the original set of date coded rims which lousey tires on them and the original wheel covers./I have an original (yet in need of replacing spare tire also). -Brand new (last weekend) clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. -also last weekend a new set of rear Monroe shocks. I mentioned earlier I drove the car today and it does all as it should and the 289 has plenty of life left and runs out strong/very strong. IE we got a chirp hitting second and third. This car (again) needs minor cosmetics. If you want restore it proper as it is a PERFECT time capsule with mostly original paint and all paint markings. Or you can do a light cosmetic job (note the DS quarter needs patching (maybe replacement) and the PS needs a patch panel. Doors are great, fenders are very good needing minor repairs. Roof needs a new vynyl top. Hood trunk and all other metal is in excellent condition. I think if you wanted to go on the "cheap" you can be in and out of Maaco for about $1500 and have a pretty car for now and best part is you have a car that is 100% mechanically. So... if you wanted just drive it as she is and show you have Patina to rather drive a vintage car with class. This is not a junker, battle wagon or rot box. Not pictured is a new upper valence which comes with the car. With new front bumper brkts and bumper the car will go thru inspection. Yes unbelievably the blinkers work, e brake and exhaust (while not new) is serviceable. All glass is good and windows work fine, doors, etc etc. I have been around mustangs for about 30 years now and this is probably one of my most pleasant cars to have purchased and own. As to a roof conversion, Yes I have a fastback roof that I would sell if the car sells. I will add that I can get the fastback roof installed for $2500 labor and I have the rear window and the door glass (so I have done my homework already and have some rear interior stuff also. I dont want to do the conversion on this car because frankly I think it is too good to modify. Ask me anything else that comes to your mind but I can clearly state there can be no disappointments with this car. On Oct-10-11 at 05:56:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi I got a few inquiries for the door data tag; so here it is. WARRANTY NUMBER (required) BODY COLOR TRIM DATE D.S.O. AXLE TRANS On Oct-10-11 at 11:41:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I find that the questions posed thus far make me have the need to add something about the rarity of the car. If you didnt know the A code 289 4 barrell is the next to top performance engine for 1965. The 225 factory horsepower more than well enough moves this light stang around the streets. Also and I think a key to the car is the factory 4 speed./someone viewing the auction stated that 95 to 97% of all mustangs manufactured in 1965 AND 1966 were either the standard 3 speed manual or 3 speed cruisomatic auto trans. When you look up restored mustang prices the A code adds 30% value over the C code (plenty good enough 289 2 barrell 200 horsepower engine). Most rear axle combination in this car was referred to a 280 open. This car received a 300 rear gear. basically that equates to a bit better off the line (or out of the hole) performance and still plenty of fuel economy versus a "taller" rear gear ratio. The fact that it is posi traction just means that both wheels will work to get you going or off ice or out of the mud. again it is the combination of the driveline options and originality that should sell this car.
