Vehicle Detail
"The Sinner" This is possibly the coolest 356 project to ever have lived. Rescued from a well known oregon 356 "custom" shop by Ed Edwards. Ed had built a vw based "rat" car previously and decided to build a early "A" coupe into his liking. The car like many projects do got shelved for other projects/customers. I bought the car years ago because it was just too awesome. There had been "rat" 356 coupes resurected, but they all turned out to be vws actually..........they would be vw chassis or drivetrain or even worse both...... This car has original 356A transaxle, brakes and a real porsche motor. The car has had new longitudinals, battery tray, floors etc installed. This car looks like death itself might be navigating, but its not a rotten car anymore. I cannot see anymore rust repair that needs to bedone. Looks great underneath and under both hood and decklid. The doors are the original doors to the car, I didn't check to see if the hood or decklid were the numbers matching. In a sea of shiney 356s, a car as genuine and unrestored as The Sinner is like the gal who couldn't afford the facelift/boobjob..............Anybody can goober a bunch of plastic on a 60+ year old and make it shine; but there's something really intriguing/Jurassic about things looking their age. With Cougars being all the rage it was only a matter of time before the "Sabertooths" came out of the woodwork. Even the purist, elitist types can't help but stare at the likes of "The Sinner"............Most don't know why they can't stop looking/staring. The Sinner could be restored like any 356 but I wouldn't hesitate in calling you a fool. The Sinner currently doesn't run but the motor does spin over, the wheels and steering work fine. We called it "The Sinner" because in the older 356 registry magazine's there was a editor who covered 356 cars selling at auction and would refer to many imperfections as "Sins"..........I always loved that. The Sinner might have some imperfections but somehow they are just perfect. This thing would be a showstopper no matter what but why not source a 4 cam carrera 356 motor for it and really blow minds. A factory 4 cam porsche 356 motor can be installed in this 356 engine bay. Later cars will not accept 4 cam motors without serious mods. The guy or gal who drives this must have moxy.........probably has a mind of their own and doesn't own golf clubs or have a gym membership. I bought this car to build it up but I recently fell out of love with cars altogether. Time to get "The Sinner" into the right hands. It is an amazing car with huge attitude and potential. This is an original california car and it still has its original california "pink slip"............it was registered last to a dame named Lucy in 1977. The project is fairly complete for a race inspired 356 but it is missing some small parts, all easy stuff to source if you needed. I have shipped many cars all over the globe with great results and happy buyers on all transactions. Always interested in trades for antique motorcycle from the 1890-1930 era.............nothing later please Feel free to ask any questions via email or phone 503 668 8327
