Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1987 Corolla FX16. It has no rust at all, a new timing belt, brand new exhaust, and extremely clean interior. This car is completely stock. No modifications at all! Please read the following description carefully and ask any questions you might have prior to bidding!! I found this car on eBay a while ago. I lived in Massachusetts at the time. The car was in Albuquerque, NM. I purchased the car using "Buy it Now" which the guy had listed on his auction. A week later I flew out to New Mexico and drove the car home. The reason I traveled so far to get the car is because it was from the desert and had no rust at all. Since I purchased the car, it has never seen rain. I have had it garaged the entire time I've owned it. I am now selling it because I have three other cars that I am more interested in working on and investing my time in. I also just need more room in my garage. This Corolla is a good car and has a very clean interior. I have three other cars and don't have the time to focus on this one.. thus I'm selling it. The car has some type of problem that I have not been able to figure out. I have spent almost no time trying to diagnose it, however it may be something very easy. From idle to about 4,000rpm, the car has very little power. As soon as the engine get's just over 4,000rpm it takes off! It is a very strong engine. All 4 cylinders test at a little over 180psi in a compression test (the factory service manual specifies 179psi for a healthy engine). It is a very healthy engine. I thought it might be possible that the valve timing was off which is would explain why it doesn't have a lot of power at low rpm's, so I had the timing belt replaced and the valve timing double checked. The valve timing was indeed correct. The car now has a new timing belt with less than a couple hundred miles on it, but it still has the problem. Past having the timing belt replaced I haven't really checked much else on the car. It is likely a very easy fix, possibly the T-VIS or maybe the TPS. I'm really not sure. If you like Toyota, especially the 4AGE and are motivated, I'm sure it can be easily figured out. I have driven the car for several thousand miles the way it is. Besides the lack of power at low rpm's, the car also has a cracked passenger side side-view mirror, very minor chips and dings all around the body, and a cracked driver side corner light. Also the car needs new rear shocks. Otherwise it is pretty much good to go. The car has a brand new OEM fit direct fit exhaust system made by Bosal. The car hasn't even been started yet since it was installed. Bosal is quality. The car has no rust at all. In the pictures the car has no battery in the engine compartment. The car now has a brand new battery in it which will be included. The car starts right up and runs fine. I start it and let it run every week or so. The car does not just sit. It has fresh oil in it and has generally been maintained well. Both windows go up and down well, however the driver's side window has a stiff spot. It definitely works and may just need to be reset on the track in order for it to move more freely, or you could just leave it the way it is and it will be fine. The gas gauge reads 3/4 of a tank when the gas tank is full. Once the tank get's to about about half full then the gas gauge work's properly. There is a gas light that works and it will come on when you have about 40miles worth of gas left. Lastly, there is a very tiny chip in the windshield. I didn't even notice it until several weeks after I got the car. I don't think it matters or is easy to notice. I wouldn't bother replacing it. The car passed inspection fine with it and it isn't a big deal. I require a $400 deposit via PayPal immediately at the end of the auction. Full payment is required via PayPal, bank transfer, or cash within 7 days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks unless prior arrangements are discussed. If you have 3 or less feedback you must contact me prior to bidding. If you bid on the car without contacting me first and have 3 or less feedback then your bid will be canceled and you will be permanently blocked from all of my future listings. Transportation of the vehicle is up to the winning bidder. I am willing to meet a shipper if they are going to pick up the car or meet the winning bidder if they want to come pick the car up in person, but that is it. Happy bidding and if you have any questions, please ask. Note: As this car lacks power in the low rpm's as described above, I thought it would be a great candidate for a carb conversion. If the winner of the auction is interested, I'll include most of the things that are needed for an extra $300.. a new Weber 32/36 carb in the box, a new low pressure fuel regulator, and a new condition Toyota Starlet distributor. Really all that would be left to do is to plug the intake manifold and injector ports as necessary and make some type of adapter to mount the carb. The car would run very strong set up like this. One would not be disappointed. The auction does not include these things automatically. It is an extra $300 for what is described in this paragraph. On Oct-08-11 at 18:31:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi, I realize in my auction I state the car is completely stock. I would like to clarify that the radio is not. It is some type of Sony Xplode cd player.
