Vehicle Detail

Offered for sale is this Sierra Tan 1965 Corvair Corsa Turbo Convertible. This car was restored by a professional restoration shop. The owner personally preformed the total restoration with the intention of using this car as a demonstration of his skills to show potential customers the type of work his shop produces. The restorer/owner is a Corvair Society of America (CORSA) master judge and the former concours chairman. This car has been shown at several Corvair CORSA national conventions and is a senior division car scoring 96+ points out of a possible 100. Most people that have seen this vehicle in person remember it as a stunning example of how a Corvair must have looked on the show room floor in 1965. The 1965 Corvair was an all new body style with more power and roomy interiors. This car was noted as having a sophisticated design with an international flavor. The top of the line Corvair was the new Corsa with distinctive new wheel covers and exterior lines. The 180 horse power Turbo Charged engine was the Corsa's upgraded engine. Corvairs in 1965 came standard with self adjusting Safety Master brakes, wider wheel tread, faster steering and new Corvette-inspired rear suspension and improved front suspension. Inside the Corsa is an elegant all vinyl upholstery and deep-twist carpeting. Bucket seats with bright metal side moldings are standard on this model. Corsa's have a deep-recessed instrument panel housing an electric clock with sweep second hand, manifold pressure and cylinder head temperature gauges, fuel indicator, 140 MPH speedometer, trip odometer and tachometer. This model includes distinctive exterior trim: Special Corsa emblems on the front fender and rear quarters; Power top, bright metal engine air exhaust grilles; wheel covers with special center inserts and a silver painted rear cove area. This well accessorized vehicle is equipped with many unique and rare GM Custom Feature Accessories including a 180 HP six cylinder air cooled Turbo Charged engine, Headrest front seats, fully synchro-meshed 4 speed transmission, Genuine Chevrolet push button AM-FM radio with 3 knob Stereo Multiplex and 2 speakers (one in front and one in the rear behind the back seat), simulated wood wheel, Telescopic steering column, Remote driver's side mirror, Prismatic inside rear view mirror, front and rear bumper guards, Deluxe front and rear seat belts, Rear mounted luggage rack, Gas door guard, Locking gas cap, Engine lid light, Positraction rear axle, Heavy duty shocks and springs, Tissue dispenser, Soft-Ray tinted glass, Luggage compartment light, 4 way hazard flashers, 13 inch simulated wire wheel covers with knock-off spinners, Turbo Oil bath air cleaner, Deluxe rubber contour front floor mats, Spare wheel and tire lock, factory quick steer, GM quick steer arms, Power top, parking brake light and more. Everything works and appears like new. Each accessory was carefully picked to enhance this already beautiful car. The engine was rebuilt by a local machinist and Corvair specialist, Regan Metcalf. No expense was spared to make this a reliable smooth running engine. Included in the rebuild were roller rockers, 20 over forged pistons, 304 cam plus parts that would increase reliability but maintain a stock outside appearance. This exceptional car runs, drives and shift like a new vehicle. It even smells like a new car. The upholstery is the correct black color and is flawless. Carpets are new and the interior appears as a new or correctly restored car should. The car was painted with Glasurit polyester basecoat and finished with high solids Glasurit transparent clear. This vehicle was buffed to a high gloss shine that is most impressive. The rear cove was painted with Glasurit argent silver and clear coated. (note: Glasurit is a high quality and expensive German paint). This beauty gleams and drives even better. Included with this vehicle are the original Protect-O-Plate, many original accessory hang tags, original literature and the Corsa senior dash plaque. This vehicle was purchased new in the Pacific Northwest and has lived most of its life sheltered in a garage. All accessories are genuine GM. Each accessory works as GM intended. All lights, heater, horn, radio, multiplex, power top, wood wheel, telescopic column and etc work and look as new. The pictures were taken in September 2011. Title is in hand. This is a most impressive collector vehicle.
