Here's a link to more pictures and a video of the car running. http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/monkecmonkedo/1989%20Volvo%20240%20GL/ You're looking at my dependable blue 1989 Volvo 240 GL sedan. I've owned it for the last six years and used it as my backup transportation (for my 1993 wagon), hence only putting 10,000 miles on it. I've owned Volvos forever and hate to see it go, but I just purchased another 1992 wagon and have too many cars. If you know about Volvos, you know that these things are built like tanks and run forever. That said, please bear in mind that this is a 22 year old car and isn't perfect (see "the not so good"). I've tried to be as honest as possible but the car is sold as is, where it is. If possible, I recommend stopping by to take a look at it. If you can't, please ask questions. I'll be happy to take any pictures/videos you want. I'm not willing to arrange shipping, but will gladly work with whoever you arrange to ship the car. Personally, I think this car is a great starting point for a restoration with suspension improvements. The body is in good shape, the interior is great, but the suspension needs some attention. The good: Runs great - starts right up (email and I can send you a video of it running). Minimal rust - a tiny bit of underbody rust and a few dime sized spots from rock chips, etc. (I have detailed underbody pictures). Decent paint - looks good from 10 feet, but would benefit from a touch up (I have close up pictures of the flaws). Rare black leather interior - not perfect, but in great shape with only a small hole on the driver's backrest. Note that many people confuse Volvo's vinyl with leather - this is the real deal, it has buttons on the seat and backrest and the "genuine leather" tag in the owner's manual (I have detailed pictures of the interior). Comes with snow tires (on it now) and the original 25 spoke aluminum rims (I think the tires on these rims need replaced). Absolutely stock - great starting point for a restoration. Newer mufflers and pipes Newer brakes (see the not so good) The not so good: Brakes - while the brakes are pretty new, when I drove the car today, it felt like the rear calipers were tight. I think they have probably rusted while sitting and will need to be freed up before driving. Suspension - the car drives fine, but I know the suspension needs work because it is mushy. I never touched the bushings, but after 22 years, they can't be in good shape. Replacing them with polyurethane would make the car handle better than new. Same for the shocks. Ignition - The ignition is "sticky" - the key gets hung up in a position between start and run. It really isn't that bad, you just need to jiggle the key, and I'll show the new owner how. You could always replace the ignition, but I never felt the need to. Sunroof - The sunroof can be difficult to open/close. I never used it. The snow tire rims are rusty. The radio doesn't work. I never used it. The heater blower motor only works in position 3 and 4 and is loud. It will work, but it needs replaced The AC doesn't work. I think I've covered everything but once again, please ask any questions. Thanks for looking at my auction!
