Vehicle Detail
Here is an eye-popping bright yellow 1972 Opel GT. If you or your deserving child are looking for something that is as unique as you are, you will enjoy this one. This car is a head-turner that gets smiles and questions everywhere it goes. It is very dependable and has received excellent upkeep. It is updated, solid, and mechanically sound. Engine has about 13,000 easy miles on a complete engine overhaul with a mild cam installed. Starts easily, runs strong and cool and does not use oil. Has a fun, nice lope. New block from Opel GT Source (OGTS). As a bonus, it gets 30 MPG !! Electric fuel pump, Weber side-drafft carb with K&N Filter. Clutch kit installed. Transmission and differential have been serviced and fluids changed. Replaced 4-speed transmission mount, central joint and cusions, pionion seal. Torque tube bearing donut, bushing replaced. Rebuilt starter. Water pump replaced. Recent paint and body work (within last year), no corrosion in belly pan. New battery tray will come with sale for installation. 3M Professional Grade undercoating applied. No corrosion in bellypan. Original locking chrome gas cap and key included in sale. Custom rims wirh Cooper Zenon tires that still have the nubs on them. Front end has been reworked including new disc brake calipers and pads, new brake booster and pass side tie rod end. Rear brake drum cylinders turned and new shoes. Recent balancing and alignment. Interior is in good shape. New headliner. Upholstery is recent and in good shape. Driver seat does not tilt or recline (I dont know why), but does slide/adjust. Passenger seat is fully functional. A few cracks in dashpad, but covered with new dashmat. Gauge console has one fine crack. All gauges are functional and have been rewired (has an aftermarket oil pressure gauge). Speedometer reworked/calibrated and has a new cable. Clock not working but there is one in the new Kenwood deck. New Kenwood 4 x 50 watts receiver with detachable faceplate, remote and USB port and I-Phone compatable. Matched to a pair of Infinity speakers that have Incredible sound !! (I am now putting the same system in my other vehicles). Features lap AND shoulder belts. Headlamps have been rewired, rotate properly, and illuminate on high and low beams. Comes with 1972 Opel GT Service manual. Terms are $500 down via Paypal-due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days of auction close (cash or cashiers check only). Pickup locally, or I will accomadate the shipper of your choosing. This is a great, fun vehicle. We thought we would keep "The Yellow Wasp" forever ( so have cared for it appropriately) but will sell at the right price. I have done my best to offer complete descriptions, contact me with any questions. On Oct-01-11 at 06:09:18 PDT, seller added the following information: A few requested updates: Yes, car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early; but at this point I am not listing a buy it now price. You may contact me if you wish. Car has been mostly garage kept since we have owned it (approx 2003). Was my sons college car (who lived within walking distance to campus, so very few miles since overhaul). Rides/steers/shifts/drives nicely. Proper break-in procedure was followed for the overhaul and it has received regular oil changes. Brake job included NEW Rotors and NEW calipers ($1600 spent on front-end/brake components 7/2010). Parts on this car have been mostly obtained from Opel GT Source--as available. Weber Carburetor is not a true side-draft, is fully functional. Electric fuel pump is not original. It was added to provide a more consistent and reliable fuel supply. On Oct-01-11 at 06:37:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Title is free of liens and clean. NOT a salvage title. Title is a "Classic Title" and therefor mileage is marked as "Exempt". To the best of my knowledge, the Odometer reading is correct--this car has averaged less than 3000 miles/year in its 39 years; and since the overhaul (4/2007) . Yes, this car does feature a Crane Fireball ignition system (HR 700) for a hotter spark/ liitle extra boost --Nice pickup by the way !!! Oil pressure is excellent--maintains around 45-60 at cruising speed !
