THIS IS A VERY RARE TRUE NUMBERS MATCHING 1966 FORD BRONCO HALF CAB 289! THE 66' 289 HALF CABS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND DUE TO THEY DID NOT START PUTTING IN V-8'S TILL THE END OF THE MODEL YEAR AND THIS ONE HAS THE ORIGINAL UN REBUILT ENGINE, I JUST ADDED GASKETS, TIMING CHAIN, WATER PUMP, NEW CAP ROTOR AND FUEL PUMP. I DID NOT REBUILD BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS IN PERFECT SHAPE AND HARDLY SHOWS ANY SIGNS OF WEAR. I HAVE PUT ABOUT 1500 MILES ON IT SINCE THE RESTORATION AND IT RUNS PERFECT WITH NO LEAKS AND NO SMOKE, I ALSO ELIMINATED THE POINTS AND PUT A ELECTONIC IGNITION UNDER CAP, SO AS TO LOOK TOTALY STOCK. SOME OF THE RARE OPTIONS ON THIS BRONCO INCLUDE A BENCH SEAT, FRONT AIRBAGS (THAT SAY FORD, AND STILL DONT LEAK) THE GEARS ARE 4.11'S WITH A POSI IN FRONT AND REAR ALL FACTORY ORDERED. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AT PHIL LONG FORD IN COLORADO SPRINGS, AND I BOUGHT IT IN BLACK FOREST COLORADO. ALMOST EVERY HARD TO FIND PART WAS STILL THERE AND ORIGINAL, YOU WILL NOTICE THE SHOCKS AND REAR LIGHTS ARE DIFFERENT FROM MOST 66 BRONCOS. I CALLED FORD AND A ARCHIVE REP. TOLD ME, THAT WAS COMMON FOR THE LAST TRUCKS OF THE MODEL YEAR TO GET SOME FUTURE UPGRADES WHEN PARTS WHERE BEING PHASED IN. THE FRONT IS A DANA 30 AND IS A POSI AND THE REAR IS A 9 IN. POSI. GLOVE BOX TAG CONFIRMS THIS IS ALL CORRECT, AND THE PAINT IS RANGOON RED CUSTOM MIXED AT THE PAINT SHOP. THE REST OF THE TRUCK WAS TREATED TO A FULL RESTORATION TO TOTAL ORIGINAL APPERANCE WITH CORRECT PAINT AND TIRES AND DRIVE TRAIN. BODY WORK INCLUDED NEW FLOOR PANS AND NEW OEM FENDERS, AND A ORIGINAL 66 GRILL. BUT THE TRUCK WAS REALLY SOLID TO START WITH. THE RESTORATION WAS STARTED LAST YEAR AND FINISHED THIS FEBUARY, A COUPLE THINGS I DINT GET TO INCLUDE HOOKING UP THE WIPERS (BUT I DO HAVE A NOS FUEL PUMP WITH VACUUME PORTS FOR THE WIPERS, THEN RUN A HOSE IN THE CAB AND ITS DONE) AND THE OIL GUAGE HAS NEVER WORKED BUT CHECKED OIL PRESSURE WITH A MECH. GUAGE AND WAS FINE. THE DASH I LEFT ALONE AND DID NOT PAINT BUT IS IN GREAT SHAPE JUST NEVER GOT TO IT. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A FULL ON FRAME OFF RETSO AND EVERYTHING WAS RESTORED OR REPLACED AND I WILL INCLUDE PIC'S OF THE PROCESS. FLOORS AND BODY WORK WHERE DONE AT A PROFESSIONAL BODY SHOP, AND DONE RIGHT, AND ALL PAINT WAS DONE IN A BOOTH. THEN ASSEMBELED IN OUR SHOP WHERE PICS WHERE TAKEN, THEN STORED IN MY GARAGE AT HOME. THIS TRUCK IS VERY RELIABLE I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER 66 HALF CAB 289 EVEN SEARCHING ALL OVER THE WEB. I DRIVE IT TO CAR SHOWS AND ALL OVER ON WEEKENDS, BUT IS ALWAYS GARAGED AND CARRED FOR. IT DRIVES VERY NICE AT 65-70 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HANDLES GREAT! I HAVE DRIVEN THIS TRUCK ALOT IN THE SUMMER AND NEVER VAPOR-LOCKS OR STALLS. ALL THE DRIVE TRAIN IS ORIGINAL, DRUM BRAKES, THREE ON THE TREE, AND ORIGINAL HUBS. THE TRUCK RUNS ON FULL SYNTHETIC OIL FROM ENGINE, TO TRANS., TO DIFFS. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK.
