Vehicle Detail
This bike (my K1200RS) has the BMW removable hard bags that were just freshly painted “gloss black” (cost over $1,200.00) and handle like luggage - they drop on and easily attach to the bike and then come off in seconds at the turn of a key. You can carry a helmet in one side and a large leather jacket in the other or a full change of clothes/shoes/food, etc. When this model was released in 1998 this was the highest horsepower (130 at the rear wheel) production bike BMW had produced. The same bike was made from 1998 through 2005 with only minor styling changes made to the front fairing in the last year of production. This one is a 1999 year model and is known as the flying brick because it is so solid it typically runs over 200k miles. Standard features include Shaft drive, ABS brakes, adjustable windshield, seat, foot pegs and shifter for maximum comfort. Other than the Throttle Miester adjustable stops, Gel Cell battery, full REMUS exhaust system and hand stitched seat the bike is completely stock and has all of the original parts on it as sold new. If you want to customize your ride further, rather than buying hardware the K1200's seat, handlebars, foot-pegs, clutch and brake levers can all be tweaked to suit your style. With just over 24,000 original miles clocked by a mature adult owner this machine was stored inside most of its life with short rides periodically to keep the fluids circulating. The very last ride I was able to get in was to Sonoma for a weekend in 2009, since then it has been sitting in wait. The new paint includes all new factory decals that were applied and followed by a clear coat to ensure they last longer than those applied by the factory. There are no scratches or chips and this does look better than new, because it is.
