Vehicle Detail
1971 TRIUMPH TR6 ROADSTER HISTORY The Triumph TR6 was introduced in 1969 as a replacement for the TR5/TR250. The TR6 featured similar running gear components and chassis as its predecessor but incorporated new external styling. The updated styling, courtesy of Karmann of Germany, allowed for more cargo capacity in the rear of the vehicle when compared with previous models. The doors and the center section remained unchanged from the TR4 and TR5 models. The interior comfort and drivability of the TR6 made it a highly successful British sports car. It was similar to the TR4 and TR5 with quality trim and a walnut dash. The 1971 TR6 was fitted with a 2498 cc, six-cylinder, dual Stromberg carbureted engine with a minimum amount of the power sapping smog equipment found in the later ’73-’76 models. It has the original four speed non-overdrive transmission in good working order. The TR6 featured in this auction has 68,835 actual miles. The original exterior color for this car is ‘Damson’ with tan interior trim as stamped on its commission plate. The car runs strong and could easily be a daily driver. I am selling this car for a friend in Winchester Virginia. CONDITION This TR6 was recently treated to a mechanical restoration to include, a new radiator and hoses, a fuel pump, battery, heater valve and a complete brake rebuild. This car runs and drives nicely, The engine is strong with 70psi oil pressure at start up and 40 psi when hot. The car makes great power and handles well. Has original Michelin red lines and would suggest replacing them if you are so inclined. Convertible top is in good condition with clear windows. It is missing the carpets and passenger side door panel. There is rust in the driver’s floor depicted in one of the photos. Obviously it needs a driver side floor pan repair and a total re-paint as well as interior carpet and door panel replacements along with crash pad pieces readily available from Moss. The early TR6 ‘tan’ seats with integral head rests are in good shape with only a few small nicks. DETAILS You can get into the Collector car hobby with a turnkey car for very reasonable money. The car is freshly serviced and ready to be driven except for the interior issues mentioned above. I have done my best to make an accurate detailed description of this car. Remember that this is a 40 year old car and no warranty is expressed. If there is an aspect that is not mentioned or you require additional information regarding an item, please E-mail or call Larry at 317-862-2020 with any questions or to schedule an appointment to inspect and drive this TR6 Roadster before the auction ends. Please do not bid unless you intend to purchase the vehicle.
