Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on my 1971 Cutlass Supreme. All the details are below VEHICLE HISTORY My wife and I ordered our very first vehicle while living in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Dean Bailey Olds in November 1970. The Olds was manufactured in Arlington , TX. While my wife and I were attending the University of Tulsa it became our graduation gift to ourselves and taking delivery of the Olds in February 1971 . Although gasoline in late 1970 was approximately $0.25 per gallon we had to opt out of the 455 engine. Instead we ordered the 350 CI 4-barrel engine for our Cutlass Supreme 2dr hardtop. I so wanted the 442 but could just not swing it at the time. Therefore when we ordered our Cutlass Supreme we loaded as many 442 options into our factory order as possible such as :bucket seats, Hurst dual gate shifter, tic tack toe gauges , sports wheel, front disc brakes , dual exhaust, 14” SS2 wheels, AM/FM stereo radio, tilt wheel, 4 bbl carb, factory AC, rear window defogger, PS, PB, dual sports mirrors, black interior, Saturn Gold Paint & black vinyl roof (still original and as new) . So in retrospect I probably spent more for the Cutlass but we were sure happy when it was delivered in the days when a new car gave one that special feeling! We took delivery of our Olds in Feb 1971 and after University Graduation we relocated back to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in Jan 1972 with our dynamite 1971 Olds . One year after arriving back in Canada we decided that we required a home and our Olds therefore represented our down payment for our FIRST HOME. We then proceeded to sell the Olds for what we paid for the car to a young man living in Medicine Hat , a small community in Southern Alberta in Jan 1973. He owned the car for approximately 5 years at which time the Olds was subsequently soldagain. Some twenty one years after we had sold the Olds we were told it was listed for sale while still in Medicine Hat , which was our home town growing up. We decided at that time to buy back the OLDS for nostalgia purposes from a young car enthusiast who was selling the OLDS to be able to buy his FIRST HOME and I knew the Olds was our Olds because I placed a University of Tulsa window sticker inside the rear window in February 1971 and that sticker was still in the window when we bought back the car and drove it back to Scottsdale, AZ in 1993. Now we have decided to sell the Olds again for the last time as it is time to retire now and in preparation for Retirement we require less house, fewer cars and a two car garage and as a result we have to part with our ::: FIRST/LAST FACTORY ORDERED VEHICLE - 1971 OLDS CUTLASS SUPREME which will allow the next owner to enjoy our OLDS as much as we have enjoyed the OLDS throughout the car’s history. VEHICLE FEATURES After arriving in Scottsdale , I decided to restore the OLDS retaining all of the original car’s features just updating those features such as ; Re-painting the car retaining the original GM Saturn Gold paint, replacing the original black vinyl roof with a new black vinyl roof, replacing the original black interior with a new identical original interior, replaced the glass throughout, re-built the front end, installed new flow master exhaust system, replaced all dash lens, repaired the tack , installed T-3 head lights as well as many other restoration items. After driving the car in Scottsdale after the initial restoration process I decided that the car needed a little more power through the intersections so approximately five- six years ago I bought a running 1972 Olds 98 from a young man in Phoenix seeking out only the big block 455 engine . When I drove the 98 OLDS home to extract out the engine I found the original owner’s manual in the glove box wherein the owner’s name and address was located in the manual and I took a chance and called that elderly owner and surprisingly enough he answered the telephone and confirmed that was his car . I couldn’t bring myself to tell him what I was doing with his car so I told him that I was the new owner of his 98 OLDS which he appreciated . I then began the heart transplant operation of the 455 BIG BLOCK engine from the 1972 OLDS into the 1971 OLDS vehicle as follows: We extracted the 455 engine and x-rayed the engine and bored it out 30 over and then proceeded to Professionally install Mondello Auto Parts and equipment with new pistons, high lift cam rings, re-did the crank, re-did the heads, installed a new intake manifold, installed new water pump, oil pump , lifters, etc fully re-building the 455 block engine to new standards including the color of the block, retaining the valve covers in an attempt to retain the appearance of the engine to that of an original 1971 OLDS with a 455 engine. The OLDS now proceeds through intersections with little difficulty , it sounds tough and attracts attention at every car show attendance. There are approximately 5000 miles on the 455 engine re-build/transplant and the OLDS has been garaged ever since coming back to Scottsdale several years ago going out on weekends to shows throughout the Phoenix Area and on short pleasure cruises in the cool Phoenix evenings. You will enjoy our 1971 Olds Custom Supreme as much as we have enjoyed our Olds to date and I am available for consultation/questions when you purchase our car concerning the history of the car and what I have done to the car. ENJOY, Thanks for looking in! Call with any questions, this is the first time at this for me 480-991-2930 (Boswell & Associates) This is a PRIVATE SALE....Mileage shows 75,000 but speedo was inop out of my ownership, appears throughout as a low mile car!
