1969 Mercedes 280SL. Automatic transmission, air conditioning and power steering. This is a California car and was in the Los Angeles area. It was stolen from a repair facility and stripped of its doors, hood, trunk lid, radio,instrument cluster, convertible top, seats, grille, lights and bumper. From the pictures you can see that most of these items have been replaced. The hood is new from Mercedes. The doors, seats, convertible top, and trunk lid have been replaced with used parts. This is an ideal restoration project. There is no rust in any of the wheel wells and the only spot of rust is in the trunk just below the spare tire mount (easy fix). This appears to be a low mileage car, however, since the instruments were stolen the actual mileage is unknown. The front fenders have the notches on the inside of the headlight indicating the fenders are original. The rest of the body does not show any condition that it has been in any accident. The paint is original (beige) and the carpet appears original. If you have ever restored one of these cars you know that if you start with a clean car you will save yourself a lot of time and money. This is that car. The remaining parts needed are mostly those that would be replaced in any restoration . Please e-mail any questions you have. On Jun-25-11 at 07:33:22 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine will run, however, when the car was stolen it was in the shop to replace the broken water pump so the engine cannot be run for any length of time. It was off on a couple of pictures but the shift handle and transmission are in the car.
