Vehicle Detail
This Spitfire is in unmodified, stock condition and is being sold with BOTH tops. I really like the Spitfire, but I am selling it so that I can finish my Spit6 project. Exterior: The car has very nice original paint. Minor door dings and minimal signs of wear for being over 30 years old. The body is in great shape, no floor or valence rust. Battery box is solid. New door and trunk seals. All wheels and the spare are powder coated. The convertible top is in good shape and has the optional zip out rear window. Hardtop is straight and glass is excellent, but could use a new headliner. Interior: Seats are fully reconditioned. New seat foams with cloth insert "Houndstooth" covers (correct 1290 pattern) from England. Original dash is recently refinished. Carpets are nice. New JVC stereo deck with input jack. All gauges are working. The original Spitfire 1500 owners manual is included. Engine and Running gear: This car runs and drives very good and tracks straight. It has KYB shocks and a new battery. The tires are almost new and were balanced when reinstalled on the refurbished wheels. The engine is stock. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The date code on the engine shows that this is a FED (federal) car. This means that the engine was not burdened with the California emissions equipment. It starts easily, even when cold. The Spitfire 1500 Haynes service manual is included. Valuation: Based on the condition definitions at www.oldcarsreport.com this is a #3) Very Good car. It is a completely operable original that is presentable and serciveable inside and out. It is a combination of well-done restoration (especially seats and dash) and good operable components. With some additional and reasonable work, the car could be a #2. Fine. www.oldcarsreport Aug 2011 values a #3 Very Good Spitfire with a hardtop at $5,445. Pick-up or Shipment: If you are considering flying into Boise to pick-up the car, I live within ten minutes of the airport and can provide a ride for you from the airport. If you are planning to ship the car, I am willing to deliver to the shipper of your choice within the Boise area or help the carrier with the loading at my home.
